Question about tattoos (kinda dumb)

why do people keep getting their kids face on their arm or whatever? I feel like 90% of the time they look deformed. Even the better ones are just... so uncanny valley. Do you really need it? When your kid is 20 are they going to be happy gazing apon a mutated hybrid of them and clay?

i don't get it!!

as someone who has seen a lot of the show ink master, i can understand why people like portraits of their kids. although to me personally, i don't really get why you would get your kid's face tattooed, unless they died and it's a memorial thing.

even so, portraits are extremely hard because you're doing photo realism and tattooing a human being instead of stuff like new school, geometric stuff, or other styles.
