talk about books. it can be something you love or hate. it can be in depth or just a suggestion (or something to avoid). just talk to me about books.

do everyone a favor and if you spoil something use spoiler warnings 1.gif.

books i love:

nightmares! trilogy- jason segal & kristen miller. this was a staple of my childhood. i remember bodily waiting for each book to some out.goosebumps- rl stine. also a staple of my childhood and baby’s first horror. seriously tho reading this was a defining moment. it got me into horror and what i read and watch today would be completely different if i never read it.salems lot- stephen king. tbh don’t remember specifics about it. it holds a very special place in my heart bc it was my introduction to stephen king. that’s really the only reason why it’s on this list. the movie sucks tho. i have tried watching it 3 times i just can’t get through it.11/22/63- stephen king. recommended to me by my friend/fellow king fan. i love it. definitely up there on my list of fav king books. it is lengthy, but i dont mind long books. i adore the show too.in the tall grass- stephen king. it’s a novella. i watched it after watching the movie. i highly recommend both. i can’t get the ending of the book out of my head.the institute- stephen king. obsessed. i read it in 2 days. i’ve seen it in the store a few times and admittedly was hesitant to try it, but once i started it i couldn’t put it down. mr mercedes (bill hodges trilogy)- stephen king. once i got into it i couldn’t put it down. i couldn’t stop talking about it (sorry leah for talking your ear off). i adore holly gibney. she has to beone of my favorite fictional characters of all time. brady is one of my favorite villains alongside sherlock’s moriarty and macgyver’s murdoc. the show is good pretty good too. they did an amazing job casting holly and brady. this is only about the first book tho, the second two on the other hand….the outsider- stephen king. super dark and went in a direction i did not expect. bonus points for the return of holly gibney. haven’t watched the show yet, but i’ll let you know when i do. tbh i’m hesitant to watch it because the cast is different than mr mercedes, and i don’t think anyone can too justine lupe as holly.nypd red (1&2)- james patterson. i’ve only read the first 2, but the rest are on my list. pretty good. i loved the style of the first one when it was the criminal’s point of view. you can never go wrong with a james patterson crime novel. i died a little inside when i found out he has ghost writers.tik tok (michael bennett book 4)- james patterson. once again. i only realized after reading it that it was part of the series, so i need to go back and read the first few. my copy of the book didn’t say “michael bennett” on it unlike the other ones (i googled it). i could still understand everything that was happening w/o the background info, so if it worked out. because of that factor in reminded me of the kay scarpetta novels.

books i hate:

it- stephen king. i hate this book with a burning passion. as i said before i don’t mind long books. in fact i love them. but this. this was just too much. and there’s a certain scene in there that some of you may be aware about. i hate it. too much unnecessary stuff in there. the movies are better. watch the movies if you want. i saw sophia lillis on the big screen and was like “hm i hope this doesn’t awaken anything in me.”book of the dead (kay scarpetta book ?)- patricia cornwell. my dads a huge fan of these books, so i decided to check it out. not a good introduction to her books. it did not get good until around page 370. there are around 400 pages. it’s a series, although i don’t know what book this is in it, but i believe it’s one of the later ones. i could understand everything going on in it without the background info tho, so that’s good at least.pet sematary- stephen king. hate isn’t the right word for this, overhyped is more like it. i’ve seen the og movie too. i enjoyed both, but i just expected it to be scarier. as i said: overhyped. still worth the read of youre into that stuff tho. finders keepers & end of watch (bill hodges trilogy)- stephen king. the show did these better. the second was okay, just kind of boring. the third on the other hand was not worth my time at all. it took an unexpected turn for the worse. minor spoiler? maybe? it turned supernatural/sci-fi out of the blue. the first 2 books had no supernatural or sci-fi elements what so ever. they did it in the show too but it was better executed there.

favorite books !!!

A Secret History - Donna Tart : I still think about this book a lot and reread it quite a bit , its really popular on the internet but her writing style is gorgeous and I adore it

A Little Life - Hanya Yanagihara : I have genuinely never felt so deeply for the characters as I have in this book , they feel so painfully real . Her writing style is so poetic and she overwhelms you with emotion in the most beautiful and devastating way . MAJOR content warning for this book , most common triggers are discussed, but HOLY GODS it destroyed me .

The End of The F***ing World - Charles Forsman : Graphic Novel , its so well done but it makes me want to sob and dance at the same time I can't form words about how much I love this

A Million Little Pieces - James Frey : First story I read in the verse based style like that , its a pretty gut-punching story , another major content warning though

Paper Towns - John Green : AGSDGJSDJJS I LOVE THIS BOOK I WILL NOT APOLOGIZE NOR EXPLAIN

THE OUTSIDERS BY S.E. HINTON I HAD TO READ IT BACK IN 8TH GRADE AND I RECENTLY WENT AND BOUGHT THE BOOK AGAIN. I love it so much it was a short read and just super entertaining and fun. Cried like a little baby at the end of the book and the movie.

Arc of a scythe book series by Neal Shusterman was good too. Another book I had to read in 8th grade for a dystopian book unit. I actually stole the book from my school and never gave it back, its still sitting in my book shelf and i go to occasionally read it.

The Help by Kathyrn Stockett is good too. I watched the movie with my mom and then I was told it was a book and my mom bought it for me. Read it at least 5 times. Was shocked it was written by a white woman because its about black women working in the 1960's and the body is black so we all do not know how to feel about that. Still excellently written though. I wrote an essay about it in 8th grade. Come to think of it most of my favorite books are from 8th grade. Lol that was like 2 years ago I think.

The warrior cats series by Erin Hunter. I haven't specifically read it but we do have an alter who loves them. I think there's like over 70 books?? They are still being made today which is crazy. I wouldn't find it insane or unbelievable if they made over 100 books. Chiharu has read them :] if anybody is interested in talking to her about it.

They lost their heads by Carlyn Becca. Its about famous dead people and where their body parts ended up. Its really weird sounding but interesting! Like this dude named Phineas Gage had a led rod go through his skull and he lived! It also just has a bunch of random dead body facts and weird stuff about dead people. I don't really know how to describe it but its really good! Bought it at a book fair in 4th or 5th grade.

Tuck everlasting by Natalie Babbitt. My 5th grade class had to read it for an ELA unit, and I LOVED IT. Until then I had never really thought of immortality as a bad thing, and now I appreciate life a bit better. I would really like to buy it again so I can read it. It has been a while since I've read that book. We watched the movie after finishing it and honestly the movie was really bad. I do not recommend it like at all. This book is a little spotty on me since its been however many years since 5th grade.

@K4V1TY_: as for stephen king, i have some recommendations. what i have listed below are just some repeats of my list above.

in order of length (shortest to longest):

11/22/63 is my favorite and will always recommend it. it is a long read tho if you’re okay with that (800-something pages i think). it’s about a guy who goes back in time to stop the jfk assassination.

mr mercedes is really good too if you’re looking for a shorter read. it’s about a retired detective who launches an official investigation after being taunted by the killer in a cold case.

in the tall grass is a very short read. it just a short story. it’s about some people who wander into a field that’s not quite what it seemed. i still think about the ending.

@K4V1TY_: i used to really be into rick riordan, but his books got too convoluted and i lost interest. still great books tho!! just not for me anymore

that maximum ride thing hurts my heart lol. i never read the og books, but i was really into the graphic novels. my friends and i were super into that and daniel x. fang was my favorite, and we were so upset when he cut his hair

Okay okay so not rly a book but gas station jack :3 I recently found the website again after loosing it and it's been a lot of fun to reread the stories!! Might look into getting the books soon, but I hate asking 4 things so shrug

Rick Riordan. Not a specific series but he's a rly good author and I've loved every single book I've read of his vhslcapchaak Nico has a special place in my heart.

Also the beastborne series by James t. Callum!! Kinda can't remember much of it but it's one of the better series that my older brother got me into lol he's got some interesting tastes in books (he pretty much only reads litrpg and some of the books he's read looks like they werent even reread after being written theres so many typos T^T)

I rly rly hated maximum ride. I can't remember at what book I stopped reading but a pet peeve of mine is unrealistic wing proportions on humans :/ I think I stopped at the point where it was kinda transphobic idk if they got a redemption but honestly I don't care.

Khsusvphcahcpajpvw I rly want to read Stephen kings stuff so that might b my next binge read!!

(I've just been reading fanfic and online comics recently but I wanna get back into actual books!!! I miss them T^T
