soooo i have a quick question 0_o

i've been a fan of melanie martinez for a long time, i even have some of her merch (my mom got it for me for christmas) but theres a lot of stuff going on around her

some people i've talked to say that the rumors and stuff are false, and others say its true, and i can never find any trustworthy information

are the rumors true? i really liked her music and i would love to listen to it, i just don't want to be supporting a problematic artist. (for example, i dropped msi because theres lots of proof of the stuff they've done, they literally have so many slurs they can't account for, like the n and f slur, its in their songs) but with melanie i can never really find out whats true and whats not

yeah ive seen things abt her nfts that are said to be stolen and stuff. if you dont know what a nft is

its a digital peice of art that you buy with crypto(aka bitcoin, dogecoin, etc etc), but the catch is, when you buy it, no matter how much money you spend on it- you never own it. The person who created the nft will forever own it, not you. also they r terrable for the environment and nature.

so, an nft is a "non fungible token" most commonly, their these randomly generated, ugly pieces of art that you can buy with crypto (ex: bitcoin)

if you've seen those ugly ape drawings going around lately, those are some examples

their labeled as "one of a kind" because they're randomly generated, and they're attached to a blockchain.

now, nfts are really really bad. why, you may ask?

well first, nfts are pretty much always a huge scam.

second, they're ugly af

third, nfts are EXTREMELY harmful to the environment!! because they're attached to a block chain it takes up massive amounts of greenhouse gas to make one and which is awful for the earth. there are some brands that claim to be "more eco friendly" but thats not really true. so nfts cause insane amounts of environmental problems which is really bad, considering the state the earth is already in.

fourth, people always expect that the nft will go up in worth which almost never happens and the stock market always crashes so whats even the point of them?

theres a lot of other reasons but those are the main ones. like i said, they're really bad and stupid. like whos gonna pay $1,000,000 for a ugly picture of a bored ape?? nft bros i guess

the sexual assult was proved false, but the nft drama idk about.. i saw someone in a livestream chat say they bought their nft but it wasn't from a credible source. i also don't know who to believe cause while her music is a huge comfort of mine, i don't want to support problematic people
