A quick Google search for square stitch tutorial brings up a lot of results If you don't like any of the tutorials you find, there's an "alternate" method you could try: http://www.beadedpatterns.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=404_409 With that one ^ it looks like you add on 4 beads at a time, unlike normal square stitch where you add one at a time. I haven't tried it myself though so I can't guarantee that it's better or easier.
