@rotten_meat: finally remembered this comment so I’m gonna jot my thoughts down here and talk about some of the differences and stuff they kept!! Also I know a lot more about re2 than re1 so I’m gonna focus on that

  • in the game Leon is a rookie cop on his first day, and when he gets into the city the virus has already spread and destroyed most of the town, in the movie he’s already been working there for at least a couple days (still a rookie though) and he’s with a group. They also changed his personality, in the movie he seems a lot more anxious and confused
  • Ada wong isn’t even seen until an after credits sequence, but in the game she was crucial to the story and helping Leon survive (we most likely will be getting another movie though!!)
  • Claire is the presidents daughter in the game, in the movie she’s a sorta misfit who ran away from the umbrella corporation orphanage years ago (her and Chris’ parents died when they were young) and she came back to visit her brother
  • Claire and Leon don’t meet up until after the carnage started and she saved him from one of the zombies
  • The guy in the jail cell who was gonna expose the umbrella corporation was killed by a random guy who turned into a zombie while also in the jail cell in the movie, and he was a friend of Claire’s who she talked with on an online chat room, in the game he wasn’t a friend of Claire’s and he was killed by the Tyrant (a recurring character)
  • There wasn’t 3 hours of footage dedicated to finding the spade diamond heart and club keys which was nice /hj
  • in the movie Claire had this like childhood “friend” aka a woman who was like experimented on and she hid and it was really weird because there was nothing like that in the games. It’s just really confusing and was really unexpected
  • The budget was pretty low for an action horror movie and I think that’s kinda clear at times, they made good use of practical effects and a lot of it looks really good, but they also had these shots where the blood was too bright and looked like amateur horror movie blood, and some of the special effects with the birds weren’t great, but they did their best with the available budget and I think that’s clear when you watch the movie
  • The lickers were kept in but they were only shown once or twice and weren’t that big a deal? In contrast to the game they were a tough enemy to deal with and were brought up a lot more, especially with them being blind and relying on hearing, but also being very strong and needing multiple shots to the head to get rid of them

Overall I think it was a very fun movie, it was a bit more lighthearted than the games which isn’t a bad thing at all!! And one of the details they kept which I really liked (spoilers), Leon gets rid of the final boss with a rocket launcher, it’s just a really fun detail

If you’re wanting to see it in theaters, I really recommend it!! It was super fun and even if you don’t know anything about the first two games I think you’ll like it a lot

@JJustJoshingYa: I think it was fun! It took a different approach because it combined the first two games so they had to change a lot of stuff, if you’re a diehard fan of the series and you’re looking for as much accuracy to the games as possible, you’re definitely in the wrong place, but it’s a nice movie that’s easy to follow along with and it had a lot of fun details kao smile
