I reccommed buying the bead boxes from Walmart, they're better quality than the bags of beads you can get from Walmart/dollar store brands. +you get to reuse the box later on. I recommend getting the rainbow set because most tutorials do theirs in rainbow and following the tutorials as close as possible is extremely helpful. After that try not to buy those big boxes of beads and buy the empty cases and getting bags of beads instead, it'll help you keep organized. I recommend sorting the beads by where you got them because not all pony beads are created equal. If you're in the USA beadtin is a great store to order beads from! If you can't order buying beads from any craft store is fine too (except hobby lobby theyre homophobic and don't deserve your hard earned cash).

I also would only used the dollar store/Walmart brands for fun beads (stars/hearts/ Ect.) because I notice the pony beads are always hideous quality. I legit had some Walmart brand beads snap in half on me yesterday and they look all mishapen, but they are good to have on hand for singles!!

As for string I reccommed 1mm string- for like every type. Strech Magic is good but I find it to be expensive (stretch magic is jelly string) it's also super hard to knot because in general jelly string is slippery so you should probably stick to elastic / embroidery thread until you got the knots down. I just buy rainbow elastic off amazon, it's pretty nice. I Try not to buy everything off of amazon becuase Amazon is a shit company w/ shitty morals but I'm also poor. Beadtin also carries string (legit so many different types) so I reccommed getting your string from there if you can, no shame if you can't!

there's a lot of kandi supplies stores in etsy, it's super helpful. Especially if you want a specific type of bead.

getting a plastic yarn needle might be helpful if you have bad hand eye coordination or just large hands or your fingers get fucked from rubbing against string so much or whatever. Yarn needles are ducking everywhere--

pro tip, if you're doing a huge project put bandaids where the string grinds up against your hands, you'll thank me later lol.

When I first got into kandi I bought a box of assorted beads online along with string and letter beads. Beadtin is a good site to order beads off of, although shipping can be kind of expensive

I don’t know where to get bead boxes (my first bead box was a hand-me-down from my sister when she moved out and I still have more beads left), but you can find stretch magic (stretchy cord) at Joanne’s or at Walmart and scissors at the dollar store
