How do you express your neurodivergence with kandi?

GasMask_Robot 9/25/2021 08:26 pm 2332

Hello! I've just started working on an article about neurodivergence and kandi for a zine about various alt subcultures. I'm interested in hearing some ways other neurodivergent people use kandi to express said neurodivergence (For example I use my kandi to stim by shaking it around on my wrists). So if you'd like, please respond to this thread with your answer. If you don't want your username (or other name if you'd rather) used in the article let me know and I'll keep it anonymous, otherwise I'll credit you by default (like "Username says they use kandi to blah blah blah"). Thank you!

pretty colors pretty colors pretty colors pretty colors

also the community aspect is super cool and makes me feel like a part of something. not jsut wearable art but art that's ment to be shared makes my brain happy, especially in an environment that puts an unnecisary amount of importance on being unique (very origonal oc do not steal)

even if i can't really wear my stuff unless i sew fabric in it...gotta love sensory processsign disorder

when i'm wearing kandi i'll shake my arms bc the sound is v good !!1 but if i'm somewhere wear i have to be quiet(er) i'll just play with the beads on my singles or squish my cuffs so they're flat !!1 cheer

I love to smoosh my carousel cuff XD

Also shaking my singles is always fun too lol

And I think that picking up kandi as a hobby also helps me stay off of a screen especially when I'm fixated on making/completing a cuff (although when im so invested like that i'll forget to use the toilet and drink water and just generally ignore my bodily needs??? anyways, staying up until 2 am making a cuff is usually worth it lmao)

i like taking off a bracelet and fidgeting with it lol happy (usually singles but idk i've fidgeted with cuffs before bc i can)

also stretching out an x-base cuff and popping the beads back in place!! its super fun & stimmy

(btw i dont have a diagnosis but i would be surprised if i was neurotypical)
