the reason the hyacinth flower is named such is because of a greek metamorphosis myth. apollo had a mortal lover named hyacinthus, or just hyacinth. however, one day when they were playing discus together apollo accidentally hit him with the disc and he died, and he blessed his body that he would rise again as a flower every spring :]

1431 - Joan of Arc was executed for heresy, by England, at around 19 years old.
