don’t. I’ve heard too many stories. And I think my mom got infected piercings doing that.

i wouldnt reccommend it- i got my ears pierced at Claire's when I was like 8 and both piercings got infected scared and nowadays i just dont wear earrings (mostly cus sensory issues but also paranoid theyll get infected again-)

i got my second lobe piercing at clare’s. it was kinda expensive ($43 i think) they got infected probably bc i switched them out too early but other than that i think it’s okay

NOOO!!!! i got them done at claires when i was in the 4th grade...it got infected and i just took them out and let it heal over. went back a year later to get them re-pierced and the lady said she'd mark + pierce it on the scar of the old piercing so its even.......just recently i discovered she COMPLETELY MISSED THE SCAR ON MY RIGHT EAR so now its uneven. not to mention...that piercing got infected too shock

two years ago i DIY'd a second (and later a third) piercing with a sewing pin and my old claire's earrings and BOTH turned out WAY BETTER than the claires peircing wacko (do NOT do it yourself.....im just pointing out how bad claires must be if two diy self-piercings by a literal unexperienced 15 year old went better than a "trained" professional's)

the diy piercings was also how i found out they mis-pierced my ear all those years ago....i almost cried bc literally wtf crying

go to a REAL piercing shop, they usually have tattoo/piercing combo shops...THATS where you want to go. if your mom doesnt want to take you somewhere like that, i knew a kid in middleschool who got her ears pierced by her doctor. jewlers are iffy too, theyre job is to sell diamonds not stab through someone's flesh, but i guess they arent as bad as claires because if anything happens their business is genuinely threatened (meaning theyll be more likely to take proper safety precautions)

i also heard that, despite what they say, claires cannot properly sterilize their gun (youre not even supposed to use a gun, you should use a hollow needle, but thats an essay for another time) which means any infections, or god forbid diseases, that anyone who previously used the gun had could potentially be transferred to you. not cool.

be safe. go to a real piercer. or your doctor.

No. Go to a professional shop like a tattoo or piercing studio. Claire's does not have proper equipment it uses a blunt force not a hollow needle to make a pocket you're more likely to get an infection and it's going to have painful healing they also don't train that much for it so it's not actually a professional who's been doing it for years and the piercing things are gross please don't

@xXOurLadyOfSorrowsXx: I gotta agree. Piercing shops weren't a thing when I got mine done (I did it at a hair salon), but there are a lot of nice ones and they generally know their onions. No matter where you get it done, follow instructions and keep them clean until they heal. And after they heal. And if you live where there is A Lot Of Winter, pay attention to your ears when it's cold because earrings can increase cold damage.

Five Below is initiating a pilot ear piercing program in some stores for around ten bucks (!), which could either be genius or will shut down quickly. I love that store but don't recommend being an early adopter.

@50_shadez_of_green: YES!! They know everything anyone needs to know abt piercings! also @Peanut: i forgot how painful the healing process is for clare’s piercings!! yeah i take it back 10000% do not recommend!! Every time u move or ur ear touches anything it hurts SOOOO bad it’s awful!!
