mine are always so fragile and I can't tell if I'm just using bad string or I'm doing something wrong 513b55c71219e_kao_cry.gif

Use good string (1mm+ cloth covered) and hit the sweet spot between keeping it taut and leaving stretch. Learn to tie a good square knot.

@InkKebab: it's super easy. Some people also like surgeon's knots -- also easy -- which will not come undone but can be big. A l'il drop of hardcore glue on a knot helps too. People who use plastic cord sometimes melt their knots with lighters, but I am fantastically clumsy and that's not a conversation I want to have with my insurance guy in front of the burnt out shell of my house.

plastic string is awful but i've never had elastic fabric string break before, maybe that'll help

i use fishing line, but this definitely makes them harder to put on if you use your average cuff size, id size up by one or two rows to even things out that way. also double knotted ties

elastic polyester cord (the one with fabric on it and an elastic core like a hair tie) makes everything easier. it doesn't dry rot and it's a lot easier to tie tightly. only downside is that it can be seen on certain pattern but if you pick your cord right you can have pretty colour combinations that compliment your cuff. also surgeon's knots have never failed me (hide it within a bead if it looks too chunky). tbh jump
