@Glitch_Kandi: yeah, i know. i kind of feel like that should be more widespread tho? idk there should just be more educational things about general life skills inside and outside of schools because not everyone really has access to information like that. ive been homeschooled pretty much my whole time going to school and never really got taught a lot of life skills from my parents or the classes i took and the one year i went to public school they had life skill classes but they were elective classes and the electives at that school werent really done that well? so having a class that taught me important life skills on something i could access like khan academy or at my library wouldve helped me alot.

sorry if that doesnt make much sense but im not really good at putting my thoughts into words, i think i got my main point across though.

(edit: i just realized khan academy does in fact have life skill classes related to what i mentioned before but its mostly financial stuff, i mean like the full spectrum of basic life skills you should have though.)

@C4NDYB0N3Z: a lot of charter schools like mine have a class where they teach you how to pay taxes and bills, and how to save money

i dont think this is really an unpopular opinion but knowledge of how to do basic everyday stuff should be more accessible.

i know some schools have classes like home ec and cooking classes but not all schools have those and its even less accessible for people who are homeschooled. im not just talking about cooking or sewing either, i mean like how do i pay taxes? how do i buy a house? how do i have a healthy and stable friendship or relationship with someone and tell if someone is taking advantage of me? how do i get a good job? things like that.

also more accessible resources for neurodivergent and disabled people would be nice, medical care is so expensive.

@Sleepy_Loss: Well not all Christians are like that, but some are extremists. I would go and explain my beliefs, but I just don't feel like arguing about my point of view. I will say this I don't know what baptists or evangelist do since I am not one I'm a LDS member or a Mormon and we are have completely different views as baptist or evangelist

@vampirefir: i think its fine for parents to teach their kids about it, my friend has a wife now and she needed my help to explain to him that his mom likes girls and he just said "So do i"

Tw: Christianity, religion, talk of hell, religious trauma, and purity culture

Also, as a Christian, I feel the need to interject here. I promise I’m not one of THOSE Christians, I don’t believe in converting people and I kinda doubt people of other religions would go to hell. This isn’t because I think other religions are bad, I’m just giving my two cents. Some people need to stop sitting at the tables Jesus flipped.

ANYWAY, yes, teach your kids about religion all you want, but don’t tell them they could go to hell at all until you know it won’t scare them. Actually I have a heck of an experience with this. I was having anxiety about going to Hell, and instead of telling me I wouldn’t (I was like 8-10) my dad and stepmom offered to pray with me about it. You don’t imply an 8 yr old is going to hell. Thanks for the religious trauma guys! Also the homophobia needs to STOP. The Bible was mistranslated by the Catholic Church.

Here’s an interesting link about queer people and the Bible : https://hoperemainsonline.com/ (from a Christian standpoint, so don’t click if that’s gonna trigger you)

and also agree with whoever said kids might not give informed consent to baptism. Yeah. There’s a reason my mom didn’t have me baptized. ANYWAY, yeah, that’s the end of the info I have. I’m not trying to convert anyone I promise, I hope it doesn’t sound like that,

Just going to add my input on the LGBT+ thing in schools- young kids CAN know they're queer. I've met multiple kids as young as 5-6 who know they aren't cis. Sure, romantic/sexual orientation tends to come later- but they'll see some kids with two mommies or two daddies or a mommy and a daddy and wonder why. Or they'll feel in themselves that they don't match the other kids they have to share a bathroom with for some reason they don't understand beyond their parts are similar.

It is good to teach kids about LGBT+ topics- being LGBT+ is a part of many people's lives and it can help a lot of kids be more accepting of themselves and others if they know that LGBT+ identities and people can exist.
