hang on, i have some patch ideas!

for a battle jacket, I like to start with one large patch at the back, then several smaller patches around that. I try to make the largest patch one that's very political, and try to condense my beliefs into one statement to put on there.

I personally prefer to use dental floss instead of thread because it's cheaper and stronger than embroidery floss.

but for explicit patch ideas, here's some stuff I have on my jacket that you can take from if you want! /gen

hand holding a rose (socialist symbol), anarchy symbol, eyes, (I have multiple patches that have eyes painting on them that I just scattered over the jacket), peace sign, Song lyrics (this is a big one, because it allows you to show both politics and music taste), Fork and knives (means eat the rich), anti- 88 (an 88 that has been circled and crossed out, its an anti-n*zi symbol.) be gay do crime, a snarling wolf, people before profit

that's about all I can think of right now, you got this! don't let older punks bully you about what is and isn't punk!! yes, there are elements of punk that are central to the subculture, but if you're upholding those, then you're doing a great job!

(i’ll delete this comment if it makes anyone uncomfortable)

my teacher had a very fancy(and very political) tie today! it had some pride flags on it and some small patches with some political things.

one of the patches basically meant “i do NOT support na**s”, which is very good! but it could be inappropriate to have a symbol of something bad, even if its crossed over and means that you’re against it

but that’s just another idea for something with patches:]

Pins (button, enamel), old-t-shirts, hand painted band patches

just make sure it's mostly band stuff & not super political !

@Strawberry_BroStrider: so basically the Barbie I used was one of those cheap plastic ones that have a hollow torso. I took off the limbs and cut a lighter sized hole in the neck just big enough so it doesn't fall out (so the lighter slides in the neck hole and sits inside the torso). Then I attached some chains to each shoulder and attached it to a keychain! I also gave mine nipple piercings and a belly button piercing and some tattoos. I hope this makes sense lol

@z_b0n3_r0tt_z: howw did you make a lighter case out of a barbie doll ?? you can't not elaborate on that /lh

Some stuff I have on my vest and pants are:

The shoelace part of shoes (like cut the whole shoelace thing off of the shoe)

Buttons (like actual buttons or pin buttons)

Keychains/charms

Leather bracelet that I cut and sewed onto my pants

Monster/pop tabs (you can sew them on or you can make a pop tab chain)

If you use lighters I made a lighter case out of a barbie doll and attached it to my pants

Zippers and pockets

Chains and spikes (a lot of them)

Tips:

You can use fishing line or dental floss as thread because it is stronger (if you use fishing line, either make sure the knot is on the outside or put hot glue over the knot cause the knot will scratch your skin)

Make sure to sew your patches on the right way cause if not your patches can fray and start to fall apart

There are also tutorials and tips on youtube!

Try to think outside of the box! Add anything you like

Patch Ideas:

Etsy has a huge selection of patches you can buy or get inspo from!

My friend made me a patch with a match striker sewed onto it
