I'm about to piss myself off with this but lolz- x_x BEFORE I GO TO BED >:3 What's your biggest alternative hot take? O.o Mine is that is bugs me when people are like "We have to bring the 2000s back! Rawring 20s!" yet at the same time go "Normalize not vibing to the social construct of fetishizing systematic toxic stimulationing gaslighting so you can retrieve non-problematic mental vibes" like if your going to parade "Living in the 2000s" around then drop that 2022 talk. And if you aren't... Still drop it, it's stupid and you just sound like your trying too hard to sound smart, lol
I'll take my unfriendings now- X'DD

@Nameless: Personally, I don't think it could work as a subculture cause :V 1. The styles too loose, I searched up "e kid" and I got WAY too many different styles to the point where even though I've had a good grasp on what e kids normally wear it made me very confused .-., 2. The entire subcultures based on being on the internet (Why it's called "e" kids) which I get that scene is somewhat the same with MySpace being a big part of it's history but I think the fact that it's based on kids on the internet is kind of confusing cause most kids on the internet don't dress like e kids- 3. There's not a clear definition of what it is. An e girl used to be a female popular on the internet but now it's a dress style? I'm confuzzled-, and finally, 4. A BIG part of subcultures is music and the only music associated with e kids is Billie Eilish but that's just as an insult- Other than that I haven't seen any music being claimed by them and only them .-. Pls correct me if I'm wrong though!

I agree with subcultures starting from poser roots (Scene was the same and I'm a scene kid!) but I just don't think e kids have made the cut yet personally .-.

E-kids should be an alternative subculture.

Mall goths used to be seen as goth posers, but then in like the 90s, it developed into its own subculture based on nu-metal. I feel like the same thing should happen with e-kids because I don't see why they couldn't be their own subculture. If you have a genuine reason why they shouldn't, I would be interested to hear your opinion on it! /gen

not really a hot take but- if you are a capitalist apologist, you're a "poser" you cant be pro-capitalism or okay with it to really be alt, the origins of alt are inherently anticonsumerism

and alt is political(politics is what made basically everything about alt(alt being a genre started by politics) and the few that aren't are just called aesthetics)

you can dress alt, you can talk alt, you can call yourself alt but you just arnt

@SleepinqZzz: The best I've got so far is calling it "Alternative fashion" rather than "Alt" (Holy crap do I hate that word, ughhh XDD), sounds a lot more 2000s for me .v.
