I'm about to piss myself off with this but lolz- x_x BEFORE I GO TO BED >:3 What's your biggest alternative hot take? O.o Mine is that is bugs me when people are like "We have to bring the 2000s back! Rawring 20s!" yet at the same time go "Normalize not vibing to the social construct of fetishizing systematic toxic stimulationing gaslighting so you can retrieve non-problematic mental vibes" like if your going to parade "Living in the 2000s" around then drop that 2022 talk. And if you aren't... Still drop it, it's stupid and you just sound like your trying too hard to sound smart, lol

i hate the like mid 2010s (post 2013 and pre 2020 scene revival ig) emo thing that was going on during that time period- like the "normal people scare me" shirts and the weird obsession with fall out boy and panic at the disco (i get the fob part but it gets a little annoying when they refuse to stop calling patrick a "smol bean" and shit like that xD yknow??) and especially them listening to the same 4 bands ***exclusively*** (looking at you 2016 emo quartet kids)... it was a nightmare xD im honestly glad its over even if its super nostalgic for me sometimes because i was like a halfway participant in that era

i feel like- for example, if you want to be goth- you must listen to the music (it doesn't have to be the only thing you listen to), dress that way (not all the time) or be interested in it if your unable to dress that way, and have the same political views and values- this is my hottest take @__@ whenever I mention this take i'd get called a gatekeeper or wutever-

i was emo for years (wear decora and lolita now so im still "alt") ((also sorry if this has already been said!!)) but for years id heard people arguing that styles like decora, fairy kei, lolita, or literally so many other colorful and j-fashion styles arent alt and just...how?!?! alternative fashion is literally defined as fashion choices outside the normal "mainstream" styles! so for the love of gosh, stop gatekeeping alt fashion to just dark styles like goth/emo/punk, theres more out there than just that!

@gummilud: Truthful by any standard, my friend.. A good reading of Hegel and an understanding of enlightenment political economy are some of the cornerstones of the alternative community. Thank you for pointing this out! You cannot be alternative while ignoring the roots of alternative fashion and music in the scientific system developed by Hegel...

you just can't be part of any punk sub-culture and be racist, ableist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, etc... punk and its subcultures are against that stuff !!

yes there are people who dress punk or goth punk or folk punk or whatever or who listen to the music and say that they're still punk ,,,, they AREN'T !! punk is political !!! it always has been !! it always will be !!!!!
