I'm about to piss myself off with this but lolz- x_x BEFORE I GO TO BED >:3 What's your biggest alternative hot take? O.o Mine is that is bugs me when people are like "We have to bring the 2000s back! Rawring 20s!" yet at the same time go "Normalize not vibing to the social construct of fetishizing systematic toxic stimulationing gaslighting so you can retrieve non-problematic mental vibes" like if your going to parade "Living in the 2000s" around then drop that 2022 talk. And if you aren't... Still drop it, it's stupid and you just sound like your trying too hard to sound smart, lol
I'll take my unfriendings now- X'DD

@jUggal0_pUppY: Ohh, I see! I can't speak for other subcultures then cuz I just know that emo and scene are heavily music based so with that I'm split between "Well, in that case, you physically can't do it so maybe being familiar with the bands is enough?" and "Well, if you physically can't become it without it hurting then maybe look for a subculture that's less... Torturous to be apart of?". But for other subcultures I wouldn't know since idk how many others are music based except I think goth and punk?

@xXJustJoking8P: I didn't mean myself for the music one, just as a general thing bc I've seen people get pretty bitchy just cause someone is autisticlol

@jUggal0_pUppY: Hmm, that ones a gray area for me since I'm just a large/XL (Idk if that's plus sized? I'm not familiar with the definition, lol) and I do believe that to be considered scene you do at least have to listen to the music. But I mean, if your listening to scene music and it's stressing you out cause there's too many sensory noises personally I'd say at that point it's not worth becoming scene. Hm, I guess in the case that you physically can't listen to it, maybe just being familiar with the bands is enough? At least in my eyes.

@xXJustJoking8P: Yeah but everyone is like "you gotta dress this way to be scene" but name a plus sized scene brand or "You gotta listen to this music to be into this style" and that type of music isn't sensory friendly to some.

@jUggal0_pUppY: For me I feel like it more so relies on the community rather than inherently the subculture itself. Like, someone could tell a plus sized person that they can't be scene cause they're chonky, I'd say that's more so the person themself being rude rather than the subculture as a whole, but to each their own :3

@jUggal0_pUppY: Ofc! I can break it down:
It bugs me when I see people talk about living in the 2000s yet use language that is very 2022ish in that kind of useless and "you could easily replace the words with less condescending sounding ones" way. For example, let's take the sentence I used as an example
"Normalize not vibing to the social construct of fetishizing systematic toxic stimulationing gaslighting so you can retrieve non-problematic mental vibes"
Now I'm going to translate it into normal language that'd be used in the 2000s
"I think it should be normal to not congratulate bad actions, it'll make everyone involved feel better"
See? Less confusing and makes you sound less like you don't have a life outside of Twitter- Yet people still overuse those words to the point where they've lost meaning imo and that's bad cause the words people throw around (Fetishizing, normalize, romanticize, etc.) are strong words that should be used in strong situations, not used to simply describe dislike-
Now apply that to someone who claims to live in the 2000s cause it's "so much better than 2022" yet they still use this 2022 language of overusing words they don't know the meaning of. Honestly comes across as just picking and choosing what you like about the 2000s and pretending that was all of the 2000s- At least to me it sounds like that- Imo, you can't have Doge and misusing of the word "gaslighting", gotta choose one, bud-

Is that good or is it too long? Do you need me to like make it in a nutshell? :0

Also my hot take is that most subcultures are infact very ableist and fatphobic

Apr 4, 2022 8:29 pm

@xXJustJoking8P: I mean ur hot take. Can you try and simplify it?

@xXToasted_treasureXx: Smart and a scene kid? Impossible! O.o JK, JK XDD

I agree with that though! Like, I really don't like their style- Like- at all- But bullying is never ok! And I'll admit, they do count as alt, anything that's not normal conventional clothing is alt to me- u3u It makes me saddum when I see alternate dressing people bully other alternate dressing people like... Think about all the times you were bullied for how U dress ;-;
