calling people posers is so lame

i am literally so sick and tired of hearing people throw around the word poser and honestly whenever i hear someone use it, i try and steer clear of them. like whats the point in gatekeeping things that make someone happy?? (obviously unless someone is being hateful but yk thats a given)

like if someone only listens to a popular emo bands, they're still emo. it doesnt discredit them and it makes no sense how it could??

but idk maybe im misunderstanding something, pls tell me if i am

Yeah! I don’t think there is anything wrong with listening to more popular bands as your main music, after all they’re popular for a reason, right?

My problem with posers is they often give out misinformation. I think if someone accidentally thinks they're one thing when they're not, the polite thing to do is to just give them a heads up, and if they're mean about it, call them a poser idc. Some people (especially kids) just need a nice push in the right direction, and they aren't trying to offend anybody.

However.

If someone has been told they mislabeled themselves (I'm talking about interests not personal identity) and they continue to talk about that label incorrectly, spreading misinformation, I think calling them a poser is honestly kinda important that way their false information doesn't spread as easily.

@urloverboy: the singer was charged w sexual assault multiple times towards minors most of which were queer (which is bullshit theyre a queercore band like yall should know better), thats y their label dropped em n their music isnt on anything but spotify, the singer has also done sum antisemitic bullshit n while he did apologize he blamed it on "used to think that being politically incorrect was funny" like sir stfu ur POSING HAPPILY LAUGHINF on the beach w a sw@st1ka yeah ok thx
