Kandi and School

I Started wearing kandi to school (where i have to wear uniforms) and so far the teachers are cool with it, but the kids want me to SELL them my cuffs, and other kids just think its stupid. How do the kids at your school react to your kandi?

I usually get the same reaction. people are like "wow, you wear a lot of bracelets". My teachers aren't very fond of it. Sometimes when i wear cuffs or whatnot, people are touching all over them and they're like, "OMG MAKE ME SOME!!!!" and im like uh i don't even know you lol. it doesn't really matter what other people think, as long as you love kandi happy

I only wear a few of my pieces unless I'm going to a party and anticipate trading a lot haha. Unless I have a reason for them like trading or going to a little kandi making party and wanting to show them off, they tend to distract me anyway. Plus I'm in college so like someone mentioned no one really gives a shit anyway haha. I've made a few new friends from my Kandi being a conversation starter, but that's about the extent of it haha. The only thing I have to say to guys that are still in school and wear a bunch if Kandi all the time, is watch your actions. if you're wildly 'popular' as bead girl or the Kandi kid and bead girl is a stuck up asshole and Kandi kid picks fights all the time, it says wonders for our scene. don't take offense or anything guys cause I'm sure you're all wonderfully nice people haha. It's just a friendly reminder. I've seen so many times young kids of the scene get involved in typical, stupid, highschool drama (its inevitable sometimes) but becaused they wore Kandi or went to raves naive people group our whole scene with those kids, and get a really bad first impression. It happens all the time. remember plur! and people will show it right back to you weather they know what it means or not. ^_^

I started to wear kandi to school in 8th grade and now I'm a junior in HS. I am known as "bead girl" "girl with beads" There is quite some people in my school who have 'copied' me. It's so annoying. But most people know it though. Some guys went up to me asking if I had a life, haha. In my school, I'm allowed to wear kandi. My teachers LOVE it. OH MY GOSH, my one teacher knew it was kandi and he asked if I raved and I said naw, and he said his construction co. makes domes and he met a bunch of DJs. People used to come up to me all the time asking about my bracelets. I get pissed when they touch it though. But, the comments and questions have decreased since others copying and people are used to me in my bracelets since it's been a few years. The glares and dirty looks will never end though. I have to start wearing less though. I usually wear it up my arms. It's becoming a distraction to myself and I play with it during class. laughing And it takes too long in the morning. I get told to sell a lot, and people ask me money to make them stuff for money. I just say no, and don't bother to explain why not

I got into kandi when I was pretty young, no one at my school really minded (no uniforms at any of my schools though) only me and a few of my friends wore kandi and knew pretty much nothing of rave scene. Now im in the rave scene and I picked kandi back up and at college of course no one cares at all what you look like or wear. Personally I dont believe in selling kandi, but im all for trading (not necessarily kandi for kandi though) but its all up to oh go on

I go to a fairly small school, so when strangers bump into me, they're like, "You're the bead girl!" (Like ixlikextrainsxkid said xD). It's kinda nice to be known for something, especially while being a freshman, even if it brings some negative feedback. I've met a few people that think I'm a freak for wearing so much, but the majority of people like my kandi, and then there is that little group that doesn't care, they like me for me~ I'm singled out for it sometimes, but that doesn't bug me. My drama teacher actually knew me as the bead girl before he knew my name XD And my art teacher bought me two huge jars of beads~ My friends love my kandi, and the principal and vice don't care, as long as it's not distracting to learning. They even let me wear one of my kandi masks on the fifth of November~ Like trains said, there were a few people who tried making kandi after I showed up. My friend started making "kandi", yet he hates raves and all EDM music except for Skrillex and deadmau5. And he knows absolutely squat about the kandi scene, PLUR or the rave scene. Overall, I got a pretty good response to my kandi for where I live. I'll be moving this year, so that means a new school. I just hope the change isn't too much, y'know? School-wise.

well.....let me put it to you this way. I use to fade into the background, and now I'm noticed....a bit too much sometimes. Some ppl think it's the amost amazin thing ever, some ppl whisper about me as I walk past, some ppl stare, some ppl run into me at assemblies and stuff (total strangers, mind you) and I get "Oh, hey ur the bead girl!", my teachers love it...and some of the "wrong" crowd try and coppy me. some days its cool, others....what ppl say drives me nuts!
