tired of forums becoming social media

i mean this in the nicest way possible, but i'm sick of 13 year olds on this website treating it like a diary or a social media. forums are not the same as social media, this is a KANDI website, not a place to vent about genuinely heavy topics (they literally have a banner saying this before you post a thread) or kin or whatever.

i know there are edge cases of people not being allowed real social media, but this is meant to be a lighthearted site to talk about a specific common interest, not how much you hate your parents or how you want a new partner.

i definitely agree. i see this tendency to overshare all over the internet, especially among younger people. it worries me.

it's not safe to vent publicly to strangers. it's the same as if i were to tell some random guy at the gas station all my personal problems. even if it isn't identifiable personal information like your legal name, location, etc. it can still be used to hurt you. for example, if someone knows your triggers and they have bad intentions, they can trigger you on purpose and really hurt you. if someone knows you have a mental illness, they might figure it'll be easy to gaslight and manipulate you. everything you say can be used against you, so please take caution and think carefully before you post it online.

if you need to vent, please ask a friend or loved one if you can vent to them. it's okay to reach out for help, but this is not the proper place.

@Crumpet: exactly. it's terrifying how quick kids can forget online danger, and it only seems to be getting worse

People shouldn’t be looking for partners on here, nor sharing their locations. We will always remove those kinds of discussions. It’s inappropriate when there are so many minors on the site.

We have had a predator on the site once before, and there could easily be one again. You never really know who you’re talking to.

Here’s the thread from when we had the predator: https://kandipatterns.com/questions/3530/important-security-safety-notice

@V4MP1RE_GUTZZ: yeah i think they should be @ a diff place or maybe just not online

@V4MP1RE_GUTZZ: aah same!! it a) confuses me why they are asking for a partner on this website of all places, and b) there’s a lot of young people on here who are asking for partners shock, i am not saying it is wrong to have partners when you are young, but it seems a little unsafe to be doing it online and to not know the person you are dating before hand. idk, i just hope good Internet safety for everyone.
