I do not rave, I'm sorry I'm too young. But to me kandi is a creative way of expressing myself. But also kandi was like a theropy for me. I got in a freak accident thing and making kandi helped deal with that. But still I have all intentions of raving once I am older.

I don't see kandi is a bad thing, it has a bad meaning in everyone's eyes though so it's associated with being a bad thing. I made cuffs and stuff even before I started raving and I've been raving for like four years now. I make stuff for friends who don't go to raves, my little brothers and my sister and to them it doesn't mean anything. It doesn't mean anything to me either, they're just cool looking. I feel like anyone can wear kandi and call it whatever they want (bracelets, cuffs, beaded stuff). I don't even find it annoying when people call themselves kandi kids. I mean if you make kandi but don't go to raves you're still a kandi kid to me. It's really dumb when people bash on each other just because someone wears and makes all of their kandi but doesn't rave so they're not "allowed" to be called a kandi kid. The only time I find it annoying is when someone wears it all the time and considers themselves a raver but they don't go to raves.

i do not rave, but i do plan to in my future. I do make "kandi" but i do not call myself a "kandi kid" i totally respect the culture and everything but i started making "kandi" because it was pretty AMAZING..at 1st i had no idea about raves=kandi and the whole P.L.U.R thing i thought of "kandi" as a way to express your self in a creative way which i still believe today and that is the reason i make it, i dont even refer to my beaded jewelry as "kandi" bc i know if i did it would offend people who really are dedicated to raving and stuff also as i said before i do plan on raving when i am of age..lastly i do know people who rave and do not own "kandi" (my big bro)lol but yeah i dont want to seem like im disrespecting anyone over this topic like i said i think of "kandi" as a creative way to express yourself c: happy>-

Kandi is supposed to only be for ravers, but I don't know of a more appropriate name for large pony bead cuffs (apart from large pony bead cuffs, which is a mouthful lol). And if people want to find tutorials and patterns for this kind of large jewelry, they'll all be listed under kandi. So even though what they're making technically isn't kandi, there isn't really a more appropriate name. It's clearer to call it kandi, in my opinion.

most people look down on people wearing arm fulls of kandi whether you rave or not because not only is kandi related to raves, its related to drugs. Its why I dont think people that are too young (mentally) should be wearing kandi, calling it kandi, they shouldn't be associating with a scene they are too young to fully understand, or be immersed in the culture when it revolves around drugs for most people. This is just an opinion, I was a kid that was into raves for 3 years before ever going, but that was because I respected my parents decision to think I was not yet ready to be in that kind of environment. Whatever people on here do, they are creating some pretty good things for the most part, and if all they did was switch from pony beads to seed beads it would be 100% different and no one would say crap because its awesome in its very own way. Everyone is creative, why not let them be? Just as long as they don't pretend to be someone they are not or shouldn't be.

Because making kandi is the new hipster thing to do. Just roll your eyes and walk away like I do when I ask kids wearing kandi if they rave and dont even know what a rave is. Sad, but its the truth.

yeah i dont mind it when ppl make stuff but putting it as kandi kinda misrepresnts it. lol been raving and making kandi going on 13yrs now, being one of original kandi kids it kinda angers me seeing when ppl do that. messes with the whole feel and vibe of being a kandi kid lol

(Been raving for 3+ years so this doesn't apply to me) See I also mainly have an issue with the kids that say that they are "kandi kids" when they have never attended a single party. I guess its kinda different if you intend on partying when you are of age. But Honestly, I never made myself any kandi before attending a single party, I only received stuff from friend when they wanted to give me any (and I started raving within a month of receiving my first piece anyway) But yeah Hypocrites suck XD
