What setting on the iron? How long do I iron it for? Everytime I try to iron it the beads end up melting or not being ironed enough! Help please!

Well i either use the paper that comes with it or i use baking paper (parchment paper). There are a lot of tutorials on YouTube on how to iron perler beads. What i do i obviously constantly keep the iron moving. NEVER KEEP IT IN ONE PLACE!!!! i also iron the back and front so the perler bead creation doesn't bend and break in half. Never apply too much pressure or you'll make your perler creation flat as hell. Do it if that's your goal lol.rainbowsmile

It's a preference also. Do you want your perler piece when finished to be completely flattened or not? That will change, maybe not the heating setting, but the pressure you're putting on the iron for sure. Also the way some beads melt is different. I made a Dratini and the perler beads melted nicely the way I wanted [not completely squished flat]. Heat was on the highest setting. I made a fox right after and it melted completely flat. The orange translucent-ish kind of beads were fast to melt. I had it on the same heat. It was a larger piece though so I had to move the iron around more and press more in certain places so-- I want to say it's almost uncontrollable, but it really just comes down to timing it all right since the irons most of us are using aren't small so it's hard to put the heat right where you want it since it's being applied all over the piece.

There's really not a "right way" to melt perler beads, but I turn my iron up to the highest heat, I think, and then I iron the beads evenly, about 10 seconds on each part of the perler. Don't forget about the amount of pressure you're putting on the iron. I put a lot of pressure on my iron because I want the beads to be completely melted. Sorry if this didn't help. Happy beading! (:
