gen tone tags question

why do people use tags for sentences like "wow i love your art /pos /gen" or "i'm sorry that happened to you /gen"? it seems counterproductive to me, because from what i understand tone tags were created to clear up sentences that could be interpreted multiple ways but there's only one way to interpret a compliment or a consolation

because it could be said "wooowwwww :/ i lOve your art.. *rolls eyes" but it could also be said "oh my gosh I love your art!!! *big genuine smile* "
two very different meanings that I (and many others) cant tell the difference unless its extreamy exaggerated (and i mean EXTREAMLY, even then its still dificult)

compliments could often be interpreted multiple ways and it depends on the tone of voice used irl. thats why tone tags would be used in an online message. genrally i think writing in your comment is sarcastic is the more neccesary one since most people assume that it would be genuine 2 begin with, but some people need more clarification than others. too many tone tags is better than a lack of tone tags, even though some think it's annoying. yeah ok hope this helps.

i’m not sure tbh, i think it could be out of fear that the other person will think they’re being jokingly nice/making fun of them? that’s the only thing i can think of
