unfortunately the thread is deleted so i can't go back and copy and paste my reply, so im gonna put a summary for those who don't know what i said:

i basically said that i was pretty sure bugz was referring to poorly researched (and therefore, not all) self-diagnoses in the post. some people will just look up a basic list of symptoms (or even worse, take one of those "do you have (x)?" quizzes not even made by professionals or based on any actual research) and go "oh yeah i have (x)" without barely putting any thought into it. that really isn't a good thing to do.

however, though, some people put hours, days, or even months or longer into ACTUAL RESEARCH into the disorder they suspect they may have, and that's okay and valid. some people can't afford or just straight up can't get a diagnosis due to non-financial conflicts (this is especially true for minors as a lot of "parents" will demonize and/or straight up don't believe in mental ilnesses, "you're too smart to have that", "its all in your head", "its because you spend too much time on the internet", "you're just lazy", and "it's just hormones" being common comebacks from crappy parents to kids who ask to be seen by a professional.) therefore, (well-researched) self-diagnoses can possibly help them to get the help they may need when professional help is available to them.

so yeah. they (bugz) didn't mean any harm, don't attack them please. /gen /srs
