@I_dont_care: if its only when ur excited/happy, it might be a stim and not a tic.

yo I got like a weird tic like thing at the beginning of the year, it was just a neck twitch (which I had been doing for years but it had gotten way worse) but then I would shake my hands then I would say "nya" or "wow" and similar noises, it was really strong for about a month but then it sort of slowed down to the point where I though it had stopped but it started back up again pretty strongly but it really only happens when I'm exited or really happy or like really really upset. I still don't know what causes it

talking from expirenced i personally like to touch different objects with abstract textures when they get really bad or i hum to myself and it usually slows them down when they get bad.

They might not be tics at all. It could be stimming, which is something associated with neurodivergency, especially ADHD or ASD (Autism).

Stimming is similar to tics but isn't as involuntary. It's repetitive movements or sounds, similar to tics, but they're usually done subconsciously instead of against the person's will. Think of it like scratching an itch: you might not even realize it's happening and you could technically not do it but it takes a lot of mental energy to consciously stop.

Everybody stims for different reasons: they could be stressed, excited, anxious or overwhelmed, and also when they're understimulated. Stimming isn't supposed to be physically harming, though there are destructive stims, and most of them are picked up through people or experiences or things you've seen. Stim toys, like pop-its or fidget spinners, are very valuable as well for neurodivergent people whom need them and I'd recommend checking them out.

TL;DR: It might just be stimming, which is like tics except for mental stimulation purposes instead of movements/sounds against your will. It's completely fine, but harm does come from mislabeling stims as tics, so make sure to do research before making any final decisions happy

i have social anxiety and when im in uncomfy situations i blink a lot, wink a lot, and close my eyes for a while or sometimes if i blink ill just do it. its probably an anxiety tic (if you have anxiety) if you have adhd, you can get tics from that too

@Ash_fortia: Hi, I have Tourettes, and honestly the best thing to do is just let yourself tic! If you worry about your tics or try to stop them, they will probably just get worse and make you even more anxious. If your tics are really bad then you could go to the doctor and get medication for it, but that's only if they're severe, which hopefully they're not. happy
