problem when making cuffs

ok, so i made an account here just to ask this, as it's driving me nuts and hopefully someone can help.
i recently bought some beads and attempted to make single kandi bracelets- it's very fun, and i thought i'd take it a step further and try to make those cuff bracelets.
well, long story short, after i make the first row, the next row doesn't go up... it sticks outward. like a spiked circle. as much as i try, it won't stick up. it keeps going back to that shape. i'm just following tutorials on youtube and the two i've seen that do the same style have the same technique. these are fairly cheap beads, so would that be apart of the issue? is there something i'm doing wrong? any help? it's very appreciated!

we recommend using something to build it off, anything the same width as the widest point in your arm itll cover (like a soda can or something) as then you can make it on that and itll stay upright the whole time - mike

The same thing happens to me when i make cuffs the trick that I do when i am making them is keep the string tight. Not so tight that it breaks because that will happen if you pull it too tight. The more rows you put on the cuff it will take shape like it is supposed to after about 3-5 rows. I hope this helps if you have any other questions feel free to message me on here happy

I'm working on my first one right now and it looked like that at first too but now it's standing up just fine with only four rows to go happy

I would continue building the bracelet up, the bracelet will eventually stay in shape, consider what kind of elastic string you are using as well be sure that you keep the beads in a tight formation, what tutorials were you watching? Trying to figure out what style of cuff you are making.
