best way to put trinkets on an x-base?

I'm making an x-base and i want to put some trinkets on it like erasers and bouncy balls but they are a bit too small to tie on with string so would hot glue be the best option?

for the erasers i would poke a needle through and tie it onto one of the beads idk abt the balls tho /nf

im not sure but what i do with small items (TW SHARP THINGS) is i take a needle and poke through the items and them put the string through, but on cartan items hotglue might work
