"Real" Raves and Kandi Kids under 18?

Can people still be considered kandi kids when they are under 18 and/or haven't been to a "real" rave? I'm only 15 (gonna turn 16 very, very soon), but I've been making kandi since I was 12 and I've lived by PLUR for even longer. I haven't been to a "real" or "official" rave (Mississippi isn't exactly a common spot for big-name raves). Out of respect for the rave community, I haven't yet called myself a raver, but I still like to consider myself a kandi kid. However, can someone who's been to something of an unofficial or local rave actually be considered a raver? Our local skating rink used to have it all: black lights, blaring EDM, ravers and kandi kids (read: me) and all other sorts coming together to just have fun. We took pictures, danced like idiots, made many memories, and skated until the sun came up. So, I don't refer to myself as a "raver" yet because it's been a fuzzy subject for me. But the biggest question is: Is calling myself a "kandi kid" a disrespectful thing? I really don't want to be disrespectful to anyone who's truly put their hearts and time into this kind of stuff. I know I'm young and haven't been to a real rave, but it's all I have to work with, and I've been working with it for a pretty long time. Please don't bash for the silly questions/long paragraphs, and thanks in advance to all who reply. <3

Several times a year? o.O Wow Crumpet...I'm lucky to make it to two 'Real' raves a year and maybe three local pending my budget. :S Kandi kids have definatly stepped outside the rave community so you can be a Kandi lover. As for being a raver you can't really say you are till you've gone to a few of them, like more then three at least. tongue Each one has its own flavor really, so until you get to sample it in person you can't quite say your a raver...we need a raver 2B status for the new kids. :S

This is a pretty controversial topic. Kandi kids originated at raves and are a specific type of raver, so if you use the strict definition of "kandi kid," you wouldn't be able to call yourself one until you're a raver. I personally don't think you can call yourself a raver until you go to "real" raves several times a year. "Real" raves are very different from any other type of rave, like anime con raves, house raves, school raves, etc. Back on the top of "kandi kid" though: around 7 years ago, I would have said absolutely not, you can't be a kandi kid without being a raver. But since then, the kandi community has changed a lot. It used to be only ravers that made kandi. Now there is this huge community of people who love making and trading kandi, but who have never been to a rave. What can we call these people? I think it's only natural that we call them "kandi kids," since their relationship with kandi is very similar to a kandi raver's. I wouldn't know what else to call them, and I doubt that anything we could come up with would be as catchy as "kandi kid."
