i've been putting off learning/creating a solo for this song (route 66 by chuck berry, safe link). despite having played guitar for an embarrassingly long time, i am terrified of improvising a solo and don't know the scales to come up with one. i've been unable to find tabs for the solo anywhere. help??? advice??? literally anything is appreciated i feel so clueless abt this

update: never mind i broke my high e string and likely can't fix it for a while 513b39525823e_crying.gif

Dang that's great. Okay, as someone who also loathed improvising (I did piano)... You're not gonna be Chuck Berry first time off, so don't worry about that. Even Chuck Berry wasn't Chuck Berry first time off. The song seems like your standard blues progression, so when your string is fixed, just sit in your practice space and mess around until you find sequences you like, and build a passage from there. Use that as the spine and you'll get more comfortable making spontaneous change from there.
