Make sure you tighten your string! If it will help you tie off your string after every row and start with a new string. It takes more time but it ensures that your ciff will stay tight and wont flare out!

What I always do is to pull the string before I finish the row. This way allows me to make adjustments approximately similar to the original size that I started with.

The only thing I can think of is if you're pulling your string tight enough or not. When I made my first cuff, I used cording for it, and as I got further along, I would string on multiple beads before I would pull it tight and it caused one side of my cuff to be smaller and tighter than the other side. If that's not the case, could you provide a few more details on what you exactly mean? Possibly a picture?
