how do I tell my parents my preferred name is Toby

ummm its hard to say without knowing the personalities of your parents but i would ask them a question along the lines of 'soooo how would you guys feel if i used a different name?' and then go from there based on their answers. if they act super weird about it then say it would just be a nickname type deal. if they seem fine then continue how you would feel comfortable continuing.

(i really hope this helps telling parents things can be hard)
