Anyone else have to get over shyness?

I'm a bit of a late bloomer, I didn't go to my first rave til I was 27 (It was like I was home for the first time). This makes me a bit shy when it comes to approaching people, especially kandi kids. Anyone else deal with this? How did you overcome it?

Never been to a rave before, but I was definitely shy for the majority of my life! I still have my bouts of shyness at times. I'm 23. You just have to take it one step at a time. If you're used to going somewhere and you see the same people, just go up and say hi. The most they can do is not say anything at all. If they do speak then you overcame your obstacle. Just keep your chin up and it'll work out! You'll blossom soon! winking

Absolutely, you should definitely go to your first rave with people who know what they're doing. My friends do know people, its just there isn't much of a scene in my city, I gotta drive 150+ miles to go to raves. I'm not really there often enough for people to remember me. Thankfully even when no ones talking to me I can let go and dance at raves. Only at raves does that happen. I often wish I'd gotten into raving at a much younger age. I think my 20's would have been a lot... happier. haha.

I haven't been to a rave yet but I heard it's best to go into one with friends that are familiar with it, that way when they go around they can introduce you to new people etc. I'm also very shy! I usually just act silly and be myself and people find me funny and somehow end up talking to me and become my friend! ^U^

I haven't been to a rave yet because of my age,but im shy just in general. And i need to work on it a lot, when i'm inschool i refuse to talk in front of the class in a whole. But i'm not too shy when it comes to people i can trust. I've tried just talking in groups of people that get larger and larger each time. And im actually becoming less shy, than i were at the beginning of the school year. That's my biggest problem when it comes to being shy, but other than that i have no ''huge'' problem with making new friends.I'm a little shy at first but once I start to get comfortable with you i evolve into a different person.

I have not yet gone to a rave but I understand shyness in a real life setting. Many moments I have tried to be a little bit more outgoing or sociable, something always seemed to kill my effort and I end up keeping to myself even more so. It's something I still struggle with and there's no fool proof way to over come it. It's just a gradual process if you really want to break your shell a little. Crumpet is right about standing alone. Even if you're not at a rave, I have had people come up to me just because no one is with me and ask if I'm okay or say I look sad, lonely, tired, you name it. My best ice breaker when talking to someone is just saying hello with a smile.

Being a petite girl I'm actually a little afraid to go alone. But my LA buddies are moving, so going alone might be my only option soon. Thanks for the kind words happy I think I need the encouragement. Heres a thought, I could go alone to a day time event with all my kandi supplies. I bet I might meet some people that way. I hadn't thought of doing something like that before.

I'm very shy too. Honestly, I can't even think of a time where I've initiated a conversation with a stranger at a rave. I probably have, I just can't remember because it's that rare. I prefer to let people approach me. I might have a slight advantage though because some people know me without me knowing them (because of this site). Try going to a rave alone if you haven't already. I find that people are more likely to approach me if I'm standing alone, probably because I look "lonely."

I've never been to a rave myself, but I'm REALLY shy. ;u; (and i know for sure i'd be really shy if I went to a rave. X3 )I can be shy online too, but it's much 'worse' in real life because I just end up sounding really awkward when I talk. @u@ I always try different ways to overcome my shyness. I'm a cosplayer so my cosplay groups will hold events, and I try to go to each of them, because I'm hanging out with people who have similar interests to me. For the same reason, that's why I love anime conventions. OuO Because there's just lots of people who are possibly shy like me who just want to have fun for the same reasons I do. ^^ Even though I start out quiet at events, I end up finding the courage to talk to other people because I do love making friends. ;u; ...though I tend to get a bit excited if I hear someone talk about something I really like, and I DO tend to get a bit chatty then. x3 hehe, but overall, just taking little steps like that should help~ happy
