kneeling during the pledge at school?

SleepinqZzz 4/5/2022 07:15 am 860

my partner and i have been wanting to kneel for the pledge at school for a while, but we both have extremely conservative backgrounds and would get super grounded if our parents found out. anyone know the policies for kneeling for the pledge at school? is it protected by the first amendment? are they allowed to alert our parents? i cant find much online. tia

I just sit, just don’t talk or be on your phone

i always stay seated during the pledge and i’ve never gotten in trouble, but i don’t go to a super conservative school so i wouldn’t really know. but either way it doesn’t sound like much of a problem if you just stay seate

I've never stood up for the pledge, I've had the highly conservative teachers give glares but legally they can't do anything

I don't see how your parents would find out unless they actually saw you do it

@xXZ0mbi3_Gut5Xx: it's a sign of disrespect, since sitting/kneeling is the complete opposite of standing and it's respectful to stand

Just stay seated. You don't have to kneel, just sit. They can't really say anything so don't worry. just be respectful, don't be on your phone or talking while its happening. that's what I do.
