truly i dont care as long as people know the difference between subcultures and styles.

Personally, I am on the fence about this issue, but I hope that we can all agree this site is not the place for that kind of discourse or disrespect.

Also, I believe someone who likes "scenecore" just borrows certain aspects of the scene fashion (ex: black + rainbow color schemes, icons like zim or brass knuckles), music (ex: mcr, botdf) and subculture - or at least what they believe is - but they do not fully identify with it. They also tend to lose interest in it which is why some call them "poserz".

@G0r3y_Gutz: Exactly it's basically giving the message "Hey be different, but be different like me"

Naahh literally I've been thinkin the same thing.. It makes no sense and these people who call people who call themselves "scenecore" seem like newbies and I wish people would be nicer when explaining these things to people :<

Dude I hate that people call you a poser for ANYTHING, it just discourages anyone trying to participate in alt subcultures because they feel like they dont belong. It isnt fair that alt fashion/subcultures, originally made for ¨outcasts¨ is being taken away from ¨outcasts¨.

I think maybe they use "scenecore" to try and appeal to people who want to call them posers nah but people should try to avoid calling people posers of any subculture if the person is new and may not know every single little detail and maybe categories of a subculture.wacko but thats just my opinion

But!! some could be taking scene culture and just making it purely an aesthetic, in which case i feel like its ok to call them out on it. idk its very... situational.

hklollyi very much agree with you! I've never been interested in wearing scene or other fashions in goth subcultures, but as someone who loves to learn about fashion and research trends, the ppl who think they're scene annoy me.. but we shouldn't be rude to them, they prolly got misinformed off of social media and just need a helping hand to get in the fashion..

also scencore is basically the posers or ppl who don't really get scene,, idk how to explain it

i agree!! there’s nothing wrong with educating someone & pushing them in the right direction, but i feel like calling them a poser is not a very good approach. i don’t think it would make them want to do more research on the scene subculture, if anything it would probably scare them off
