Its really sad, basically all pop contains somewhat of an EDM sound. Alot of great Djs are on Pop stations. Hot topic is selling Kandi. And I hear kids Talking about PLUR. WHATS NEXT!? What do you guys think? On one hand, I think that the exposer to music is good, but on the other hand, Its really sad. I guess pretty soon Everyone will be raving....

Well i am a big Skrillex fan but mainly because he was my first rave. I saw him on my birthday and he told me he loved me so he is kind of my hero now.... He is really mainstream i know.

Actually I feel like the rave crave has calmed down. Back in 2009 maybe, it was getting really crazy, that's when it was really cool to rave, lol everyone would talk about it, by 2010 that's all the kids in my scene would do lol but its been dieing down now in my opinion, its just all about parties and kickbacks lol. Idk if that's just here, but it's not really that mainstream ; b .. but in the music, it still has a great impact, but I don't think that's bad either

I don't know why this whole "mainstream" thing is even a problem. Give it some time and people will forget about once the next big thing happens. More people becoming interested in raving or anything for that matter shouldn't take away the joy it gives you. Like I said, in some time people will move on to something else and there you go. I think people worry too much about things being mainstream too much considering if a large body of people know about a specific thing, it's already becoming mainstream. There are plenty more dire things to worry about other than something becoming popular.

I welcome newcomers. I mean not to be rude, but this is coming from "sonnyfan14" I'm assuming you mean skrillex. and your picture has skrillex and deadmau5 in it lol. those two are about as mainstream as it gets. and not in a badway either! but you know. the moment we start criticizing people for joining the scene because it's mainstream we stop being respectful, we stop showing love, we loose all unity, and we lack peace. that is of utmost importance. EDM becoming mainstream is just another way for people to learn what we're all about, TEACH them about other less popular EDM, and ultimately make new friends and create new bonds. let's not give ourselves a bad rep by going directly against exactly what we stand for and alienating these people. raves are a place to leave judgements behind us and accept people for who they are "mainstream" or not. spread the love. I see no issue with people talking about PLUR and everyone raving.

I just hope everyone doesn't get into it because everyone else is doing it without knowing the meaning of it all. I hate how people say 'Thats to mainstream.' it ticks me off. <,<

the rave scene has been becoming main stream for a long time now. Since I was a freshman in Highschool (now a sophmore in college) ive seen some major changes in what I knew to be raves. I love the old idea of Raves when everyone had their own individual style while keeping realetively clothed, how everyone was willing to help anyone out when in need. My ex boyfriend once drove 4 hours out of his way to take some people home after a party that he didnt even know. No one these days would ever think about doing somthing like that. Those that do are far inbetween to even even count. Face it, the rave scene is going to die out because it has never been this main stream before and all the actual ravers are getting sick and tired of this crap and are leaving. Some of my good friends that I knew to make epic amazing things I havent seen or talked to in years when they had been raving for a VERY long time before I met them. Once the scene dies down it will be brought back to life by all the true old schoolers to the majestic way it used to be. Until then, we deal with this shit scene and all the shit music that has come of our beautiful edm... blushing

I don't think of it that way, as a bad sort of "here come the posers" thing. If pop songs are using some EDM elements, who cares? I came across one of my favorite DJs in pop culture. And we can listen to our fantastic music. Hot Topic is selling "kandi"? Well, I'm glad they're not FORCING me to buy it. PLUR is being spread through youth? Well, I'm glad the general message of peace, love, unity and equality, and respect from the 60's is finally being followed and spread among other generations. It's the circle of society for things to become popular, then lose popularity. It all depends on how you view it. Perhaps this newfound popularity in the rave scene will create a new generation of ravers, plus kandi kids, that will again believe in PLUR, instead of the odd group there is now where they claim, "PLUR is dead." Point of view is everything.

the idea of spreading PLUR is awsome but i dont like that its being looked at as a bad thing cause of the fact that its becoming mainstream

I just hate how people don't understand the meaning behind it all. They're like "Oh everyone else is doing it and it makes them look cool so we'll do it to!"
