The website needs alot of money to keep running (im pretty sure its hundreds per month) and one source of income (if not, the only one) is the ads.

So I please advise to turn adblockers off on this site (if this is bad at all, I'll take the post down, I just wanted to let people know, this website is so cool )

Try updating your profile and interacting more on the site. There are greater restrictions on forum comments due to spam. Spam comments will still not be published, even for verified accounts

Thank you for posting this. You're correct; it does cost hundreds of dollars a month, and I recently doubled the hosting costs. Ads are the only source of income we have. I want to keep the site up for as long as possible, so if I had to pay a little bit of money out of pocket I would do that, but I wouldn't be able to do that forever. I would likely have to convert the site to read-only archive mode if the hosting costs became too extreme.

Here are all the things I have to pay for, for the site. I'm actually not even 100% sure this is everything. This is just off the top of my head:

Email (monthly), image uploading (monthly), cloud image hosting (monthly), SSL certificates (yearly), multiple domains (yearly), spam protection (monthly), hack protection (monthly), hosting and backups (monthly), plus IT technician fees when I need server work done and don't have time to do it myself. Running a website like this is very expensive and time consuming and there are a lot of different parts to it. I could potentially remove a few of these costs and will likely try to at some point, but a lot of it is set up this way to minimize the work I have to do. And it would still cost hundreds even if I removed a few charges.

It's important to watch the ads on your favorite creators' videos as well, if you want to reward them for their work. I know ads are annoying, but they help the people you care about get paid for their work. And with small websites like this, they keep the websites online. There is no way I could keep this site up without ads.
