I. Am not skilled. But! I can do sewing and sometimes I have to use cardboard plates for things so I think this might be similar.
try to start drawing out a pattern, or pieces of the head first, like the sides of the phone if you’re doing that. Definitely sketch out everything first, it will really help establish the pattern.

for any rounded pieces, use your fingers to squish the cardboard until the supports inside are flat. They’ll bend much easier that way.

Make sure you have a hot glue g*n! This will make things so much faster and easier to make. Be careful not to burn yourself, though

Also, if you’re covering any of the cardboard in fabric, I recommend glueing it on before you assemble the head, it will make the seams look nicer. However, if you have a shortage of fabric, glueing it when it’s all put together will be fine too.

Don’t use the glue g*n to glue the fabric on!!! Not only does this make it super easy to burn yourself, the glue might come through the fabric (especially if you’re using fabric such as felt) and dry white. It won’t dry clear if it comes through the fabric, and looks really bad unless the fabric is white. If you don’t press too hard and the glue doesn’t squish through hot glue is just fine and won’t show through

cut out all the pieces and place it together to see how it looks before you decide to tape/glue it. and tutorials are always helpful. you might mess up a few times while trying to figure out the size but dw you'll get it

i would suggest using hot glue though it works better than tape and you can paint over it easier
