How to stop string from breaking D:

kittyboyjackX3 1/25/2022 06:54 pm 1368

I use elastic string if that helps!! I find that if I use the non-stretchy kind then I can't fit the bracelet over my hand 513b55c71219e_kao_cry.gif

I have tried double and triple knots and the string has either broken or come untied, advice is appreciated 513b55c735fb9_kao_smile.gif

I would recommend trying a surgeons knot

I usually do two regular knots, a surgeon knot, and two more regular knots and I’ve never had them unravel. Just make sure to keep things pretty tight.

(If you don’t know how to make a surgeons knot than this is a tutorial for it https://youtu.be/w4q6L9VHBcE )

hmm if the triple knots or even a surgeons knot isn’t working out, then try the

C o n s t r i c t o r k n o t

Lol it’s supposed to be a super stubborn knot to untie but I think you need to leave quite a bit of string slack to tie it, I’ve only tried it once so I’m not an expert on it, but maybe the constrictor knot could work kao happy I have a whole brick sized book on different kinds of knots but I misplaced it, when I find it again i might make a thread on strong knots to try

i use 8 mm string (the clear jelly type) n i tie 2-3 surgeons knots every time

i did have cloth-covered string which stayed together better tho

I would 100% recommend cloth covered elastic cos it's super stretchy and won't come undone or break.
But if you don't have access to that, use 1mm string and when you tie the knots, instead of pulling super tight kinda do short tugs back and forth idk how to explain it but this youtube video (at 3:32) explains it really well! You can also put glue or clear nail polish on the knots, but if you're using glue I would recommend (if you're making a cuff) to put your string through the bead before you add the glue cos the glue can sometimes bulk up the knot and make it impossible to put anything through the bead (from my experience)
