Non-ravers with kandi?

So, it may be odd to be on this site as I've never atteneded a rave, I live in England and you have to be 18+ or 16+, I do want to go to a rave and I make things out of beads, usually for others and people say if you don't rave it isn't kandi? but other people have said if you understand the rave scene its okay to have a bit of kandi? So I was wondering on your opinions? 21.gif

I'm not a raver...but I live in a place with NO rave scene...I love making kandi and when I move away I will start raving, I love the culture and I have friends that do rave. I make kandi as more of an art and I love making awesome stuff to trade with people. I don't call myself a kandi kid...I'm justr a person who loves to make and wear kandi...but not cause it looks cool...but cause it's a good feeling to have jewelry to wear that you put the effort into making or that a friend put effort into making rather than getting popular store bought shitty stuff.

I agree with everyone here~ ^u^ I don't have the opportunity to go to a rave (I'm old enough, I just don't live where there's raves going on ), but I admire kandi SO much! I started making "pony bead jewelry" a few years ago before I knew that what I was making was pretty much kandi. OuO The pieces I made had alot of meaning into them though. When I learned what kandi was all about, it made me like it more~ So I think as long as people put love into their bead creations, then it's okay whether you've been to a rave or not. Not everyone has that opportunity, but for the ones who do, then that's cool. :3

I have not been to a rave yet myself, cuz my parents suck lol. but as long as you dont just think of it as beads, because kandi has meaning to lots of people. its only kandi if you make it as kandi. you dont have to go to a rave for it to be kandi

Not that I can really talk, I've only been to two raves. Both of which were at Otakon. :c I just live in a god awful place with absolutely nothing around. But anyway... I have a non-raver friend who wears/makes kandi. As soon as a rave pops up nearby, he said he'd certainly go. But, like a lot of others have said, if you know and respect the culture, then that's absolutely fine.

Exactly what everyone says as long as you know the culture of the scene and what kandi is all about and plur it shouldn't matter. Bythe wway you can find rave almost everywhere! big grin you just have to look sure they might not be in your town but there could be one that's an hour away or even 15 minutes from where you live happy

As long as you don't call yourself a raver when you're not, there's nothing wrong with it. Kandi is a way to express yourself and new found friendships, as long as you aren't making it for the wrong reasons there's nothing wrong with it.

(Personally) You can call it kandi but just don't call yourself a raver if that's not what you are/do. A lot of people are understanding that its hard to get into raves now because you have to be 18+ so they are a bit more accepting when it comes to people/kids who aren't ravers

I started by stumbling into a rave in old town Fort Collins. I loved it, but felt kind of out of place and like I was missing a big part of the fun. Here I am, a Kandi maker who goes to maybe a show every 2 months, but it's a constant reminder that the PLUR community is one that can carry love all throughout life.
