For the majority of my projects, I've used the clear string. And every time I watch a tutorial, they always say something along the lines of "pls don't use the clear string it bad" and uhhhh so far nothing has fallen but uh-

IS ALL MY KANDI GONNA FALL APART??? NOW I'M LIKE SUPER WORRIED-

i use some random clear crap i found on amazon. its not bad and does its job, but it can fall apart and does break easily. if you do use clear string, just be prepared to be re-stringing ur kandi every so often

Over a long period, the plastic string breaks down. I'd def suggest fabric elastic, even though it can be a bit more frustrating to work with! don't worry about everything falling apart; if you notice it become loose or the string looking crumbly, restring with a fabric elastic happy I'm pretty sure it takes 2-5 years for it to break down? so if you don't plan of having your Kandi longterm it shouldn't matter too much x

Other people have different experiences but it holds together pretty well but you have to tie it really tight! I would suggest getting the silver string from walmart!

i think the clear string from walmart (its not called stretch magic, im pretty sure sm is hobby lobby's brand) is really good! you can get like, 300 feet for 8 dollars. i made my first 3d cuff with it yesterday and (for now) it's holding together nicely.

i actually heard that stretch magic dry rots over time? im not entirely sure what that means but i guess it becomes dry and brittle over the years. i have also noticed that stretch magic starts to yellow over time too, but it still works fine for the stuff i do? but yes i would highly recommend fabric covered elastic because it's stretchier and stronger!! some dollar stores have it near the bead/craft section (if they have one)

it depends on what your making! if its a small charm (and you dont pull to tight) it should be fine but if you use it to make the base of a cuff it might be hard-ish to get on ^^
