Designs that require specific shapes to be recognizable, e.g. triangles, circles, squares, rectangles, diamonds, etc, or designs that consist only of perfectly-formed shapes. Example: the old school Nintendo controller, Tetris
-
People - human, cartoon, whatever. Especially if it's a close up of someone's face. It's just not possible to get the necessary detail with beads. I have many plenty of "people" patterns, but none are very accurate, for this reason.
-
Intricate designs - designs that have a lot of detail and need this detail to be recognizable. This often happens with characters that have lots of teeth or other detail in their face. Example: American McGee's cheshire cat
-
Designs that require fine lines - beads are thick, so it's not possible to make thin lines out of them without making the cuff too big. Also, if a character's eyes and face are both white colored, his eyes need to be outlined, but in many cases it's not possible to outline without making the cuff too big.
-
Designs with jagged/uneven edges - ditto to above
-
Extremely simple logos - oftentimes very simple logos are the hardest, because if the angles aren't exactly correct, the logo isn't recognizable. E.g. Dallas Cowboys star.
-
Wide or tall designs - if a character is very tall, or very wide, he can be hard to fit on a cuff without wrapping around too much. E.g. Bugs Bunny (tall because of the ears, and the teeth also didn't work)
-
Characters with big, detailed eyes - big detailed eyes mean that the character's face has to be HUGE, and normally will not fit on a decent-sized pattern. E.g. My Little Pony, Littlest Pet Shop
This list makes it seem like making kandi patterns is hopeless - that no designs come out well - but obviously that's not true or I wouldn't have hundreds of patterns. This list is just pessimistic, because I want you guys to understand why I don't make a lot of the patterns you request. It's not anything personal, nor is it favoritism over certain characters or requesters
Which kandi patterns don't work?

Here is a list of things that typically do not work well for kandi patterns, although keep in mind there are many exceptions:
