I usually use fishing line for masks to keep them sturdy. As for Cuffs I use .8mm clear stretch string for cuffs! Hope this helped!

You can use anything--Usually its just plastics that are cut into the teeth pattern then hot glued onto the mask. kao yes

Don't use nail tips, they look sorta fake. I use white plastic s****s and a tooth template. You can cut out the tooth from the plastic s****. Since it's a s**** it'll have a nice curve over it which makes it look better . Once you cut it out you can glue it on the bead and then string it onto the mask. Hope this helped!tongue

deff takes some time getting used to pattern maker.. what i do is look at the basic shapes of things like cuffs are the easiest but on masks i just look at patterns already made and do the outline and just try to fill it in with my idea

Maybe it's just me, but I'm finding it impossible to show all cuffs.

If you browse, you're given these options:

  • All
  • Perler Bead
  • Mask
  • Flat Panel
  • Flat Charm
  • Bandana
  • Tie
  • Bikini
  • Case

Cuff isn't one of them. I only am interested in cuffs, TBH.

If you search, you can get "cuff" in the "types of pattern" checkbox at the side, but I want to see all- there's no way that I can see to do this. I've tried searching for * but it turns up zero results, so I suppose wildcards aren't on in the search engine. If I'm just doing something wrong, please tell me.

Thank you so much. The new layout is wonderful- much better than before.

How many beads do you need to make a mask?

@Baylee, the amount of beads you need depends on the style and size of mask. You need to look at a pattern and check the bead counts.

heart bounce welcome happy what specifically do you need tips on? there are a few tutorials on here for larger stuff, such as cuffs and masks.

But Here's my #1 basic tip: words on bracelets are loved and you can buy letters in bulk on eBay/Amazon happy

You've got perfect legs to add a kandi garter to! It would look super cute. And maybe a cute mask!

Make one of those large full face kandi masks!!!

I use regular size pony beads for all my masks. If you use smaller, you'll need to use more.

I usually buy from http://www.andysponybeads.com/
Their beads are pretty cheap ($3.29USD for a 500 count bag) AND they give you free shipping on any order over $36. The shipping is always fast and the beads are really stunning. I've also found that their beads have fewer defect beads than the ones I was getting at Michael's.

Just a little FYI, Etsy is going way down in quality. They allow people to sell mass produced stuff from China, and then threaten to shut anyone down when they complain about it. You should go to StoreEnvy instead. big grin They have customizable shops, free listing, and a bunch of fancy features!

In terms of selling, you totally should! I would see how other people are pricing theirs, and then go from there. Pick a price per bead and maybe price your items like that. I usually see masks sold for $15 or so. There is an app called Craft Pricing Calculator that I LOVE, and I use it to price my items all the time. kao happy

You should check out the ones from kandiaddiction.com! They have adjustable mask straps for 10$ ^^ I've been wanting to get one but I don't have a credit or debt card! ;/ I've seen that instead of having straps around your ears it just goes around your head if u get what that means?? I'm bad at explaining. XD

you could try using elastic straps and stitch them into the mask

`I use an iron. Majority of my perlers came out smooth but some did not due to me putting it under heat for so long.

`What I do to not melt my peg board, or make it bend, is that I melted the top perlers with the melting paper and made sure that they were melted where I can take the paper and pick it up with the perler attached still. I then finished the melting process on my table. My table isn't gl***, its wood. Melting on gl*** is a bad idea! kao blush

`Sometimes what I do is flip the perler over and melt the other side. Some people don't do that due to looks. It's up the melter - you!

Side note: People take masking tape and tape the finish project and then lay it out on their table to melt the perler. It's all due to the peg board not wanting to be ruined. happy

@KandiKaiju: I've never seen the Surgeon's Knot before, I always use the Blood Knot. It works really well when making your surgeon masks with fishing line. I use a 25 pound test. Not sure how it works in the cuffs yet.

-Cheers.!

I have always used fabric covered elastic and have never had any problems with it...

But one think I have always HATE working with was fishing line. It's not stretchy, of course, so I never used it for bracelets. But I have tried making peyoye stitches, masks, and other things that don't need to be stretchy, and it just ends up too loose.

I suggest that you just pull pretty hard on the fabric elastic, and for the stretch magic, pull it tight as well, and just tie am a bunch of knots, make them as tight as possible. And super glue it. People also burn the ends of stretch magic and stuff like that, so if you decide to burn the ends of the stretch magic, do it carefully.

I hope that somewhat helpedblushrainbowsmile
