I dont really know how neo pronouns work and things like cat\catself or xe\xir ect.., and I dont wanna accidentally invalidate someone for it, so can someone tell me like what they are, and like how they work? 513b39525823e_crying.gif

@AlistersKandi: its just something to replace a proper noun (like a name), so it can be anything really

I also have a question about this, I get neo pronouns like xe/xer and similar ones, but I don’t get things like cat/catself. It doesn’t make sense to me because it’s a noun and isn’t the point of a pronoun to replace a noun? I’m not trying to invalidate anybody and I will respect people’s pronouns no matter what they are, so can someone explain that part? Sorry if this sounds disrespectful

@rainbow_nerdz: also it's funny that you say that bc I use glitter/glitterself as well lmao but I like star/stars the best, it's what I use the most

if you think about it, if language/society had evolved differently, "she" could've been the masculine pronoun and "he" could have been the feminine one !

@P1nk_Mal1bu_Barb13: Yea idk why people always argue "you can't use neopronouns cus they're made up" as if THE ENTIRETY OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE ISN'T MADE UP AS WELL ?!?!? shrug

@rainbow_nerdz: (mine and my friend's perspective)

We are all neurodivergent and have a difficult time really understanding what gender/identity is. We've built our identity on things/experiences that are important to us, so our names and pronouns express that

But at the end of the day, pronouns and names are made up anyways lol. It doesn't really matter what people go by, as long as they are comfortable with it

OMG I"M SO GLAD PPL ARE ASKING THIS AS A NEOPRONOUN USER happy

I use star/stars neopronouns and I made a guide on how to use that I'm going to copy and paste here that might help you use other neos as well ! Just note that some neo pronouns will be used differently than others ! For example, fae/faer and ey/em pronouns are used the same way as they/them pronouns; in other words, they are plural pronouns. So, you would "ey are" instead of "ey IS". In the case of my pronouns (star/stars), they are singular, so you would use them the same way you would she or he and most other neopronouns . I will also provide a few websites that can help you use them if you ever need ^^

Starself pronouns–

*Star/stars pronouns are singular, which means that they will be used in the same way as she or he pronouns !

I met someone named Rory, she is very nice– I met someone named Rory, star **is** nice.

Her favorite color is pink– Stars (or star’s) favorite color is pink.

She has a pink shirt, the pink shirt is hers– Star has a pink shirt, the pink shirt is stars.

She bought it herself– Star bought it starself

I’m going to the mall with her after school– I’m going to the mall with star after school
