I have a question TW: ranting

Ok so I just NEED to know (bc it's bothered me for a while)

Why are ppl nowadays afraid of capital letters like ??

Why do we need to add content warnings to things nowadays with warnings like "CW: all caps" ?? Don't get me wrong, it's fine to put content/trigger warnings for topics that can actually be triggering, like (slight tw) injury, gore, emetophobia, suicide, etc. but why LETTERS ??? I've asked people abt it b4 and they always said something like "because it's triggering to some ppl" but like WHY THO. How do you read books if you cant stand a full word that's written in caps? I'm sorry if this came off as insensitive and I have a MUCH more vent-y and detailed version of why I dont think this is really valid, which I deleted but could private message to you if you want to read it so I can have a more detailed answer. the most i've gotten of a reason of why it's "triggering" is "it makes me think you're mad at me." Which is... like... All I'm gonna say is that I am a random stranger, so why does it really matter if I sound mad? You can't just assume. You could ask me if I'm mad. If you don't like me typing in all caps, LITERALLY JUST BLOCK ME. Typing quirks are so accepted and many people really like them, and I don't see people complaining about THEM all that much, even I don't like them personally. You don't see "W2RN1N9: TYP1N9 QU!RKZZ >_<" b4 you read a post lmao. What if typing in all caps a lot is just MY typing quirk ? It's just letters my guy...

I really don't get it. I need answer other than "it makes me think you're mad at me".

And don't get me wrong, I'm not asking for typing quirk warnings bc I don't need/want them.

I know this is going to sound mean but sometimes in life you can't get accommodations for everything, and in the case of capital letters, all I'm going to say is that my opinion is that you should just get over it. We all made fun of that girl years ago for having a mental breakdown on YT bc she SAW A MINION and most of us probably were thinking that she should just get over it CUS IT'S NOT THAT DEEP. We didn't see that video and start putting "TRIGGER WARNING: MINIONS" on Facebook mom memes lmfao. If you genuinely have PTSD that's triggered by all caps, that's not anyone else's problem and that's something you need to get over in therapy, because you just CAN'T be going around expecting accommodations for, imo, something that's pretty silly. And honestly, if you can't handle people typing in a specific way, you probably shouldn't be on the internet. Sorry. I think it's valid for finding caps hard to read but to have a panic attack or whatever just for SEEING THEM is actually insane. THEY CAN'T HURT YOU. Like how tf did you make it through school if you can handle seeing capital letters ?? How tf do you read books ???

I hate typing quirks because something about them just really annoys me. And yet, I see many people typing quirks and I don't see any content warnings for those ! But you know what ? In the long run, I DON'T REALLY GIVE A DAMN because typing quirks can't hurt me even if they trigger me in a specific way. A while back (years ago) I tried asking people to stop putting question marks after their questions bc something about it really bothered me about the way it sounded in my head when I read it. And boy were ppl not happy about me trying to control the way they type. And I realized that what I had done was stupid and that it didn't really even matter ! Because they were random people on the internet ! IT ^ IS ^ NOT ^ THAT ^ DEEP. IF ^ IT ^ GENUINELY ^ BOTHERS ^ YOU, YOU ^ NEED ^ THERAPY. In fact, I think everyone would benefit from a bit pf therapy...

@TeamFortress2: Right? I feel like anywhere in the world has some kind of uppercase letter. Everyone has their opinions but with this I feel like you just need to get over it.

@TeamFortress2: PREACHHHHH

@RoryMakezKandi: Ohhh ok, sorry I wasn't 100% sure, I was just guessing based on the context that I knew.

@50_shadez_of_green

: I know I'm just trying to understand what those people are thinking when they see uppercased letters.

@Digipxel: Yes and I completely understand that I'm just really not sure how the ptsd thing would work, just trying to think like the people with the issues.

I do not think anyone who uses uppercase letters is bad, I just think people who are putting the warnings are trying to keep others aware and not trigger other people. No one may truly understand how the trigger with uppercased letters is but it can still be good to keep people aware even if it isn't common.

honestly , i type in caps all the time and tend to do so when im happy and/or excited , and have also never understood the need for cws or tws for capital letters . and its not just me , others in our system use caps too , like we have an alter who just types in all caps . if someone were to interact with them , would they have to put " cw : caps " before doing so ???? thats just stupid sounding since thats how they type .

i also dont get how typing quirks are so accepted and caps arent !! since typing quirks can be difficult to read for screen readers and most dont offer translations of their typing quirks .

@Mama_WeAllGo2Hell: Ok but should capital letters really be considered a WARNING ? I mean sure they're triggering but they aren't HARMFUL.

1) some people can find caps hard to read and would just like a small heads up (the reason I use content warnings instead of trigger warnings) (dyslexia, ADHD(at least in my experience sometimes), etc.) 2) sometimes people heavily associate all caps with yelling, and might have PTSD when it comes to yelling (parents arguing, scary teachers, etc.)

I personally type in all caps a lot, and I understand where you're coming from, but, like, you could at least be respectful about all this?? You're acting like you genuinely don't believe there are any people who are uncomfortable with all caps, which is kinda insensitive. You could at least try to see from these people's perspectives, but nope, apparently not, just gonna complain complain complain. I'm not triggered by or uncomfortable with all caps, but I still use a content warnings for those who are. It's just more respectful to think of how others are feeling and how your comments would affect them.

If you try and argue, I won't be responding. I do not have the mental capacity to argue right now, I'm already so done with people's shit. Arguing is a waste of both my time and yours, and I will not participate in it from now on.
