when i was younger (10 or 11?) i hyperfixated on this book about puberty for like 2 weeks straight- i would reread it over and over again like "WoAh PuBeRtY! So FuN!"

just gonna clarify something- im not saying having hyperfixations is weird, its completely fine. and im also not saying learning about puberty is weird, it kinda essential. im just saying this past hyperfixation of mine was weird cus i would read that book at the kitchen table n stuff, and i definetely made some people in my house uncomfortable since i was reading the book in such an open space

Not too weird but for YEARS I was obsessed with mummification and death rituals of all kinds. The process and meaning and everything. I checked out books from the library about it so often... I've got to check out libraries more they're so epic

not SUPER weird, but i was really obsessed (translating as a hyperfixation at random intervals) with the book series 'Maximum Ride' by james patterson for about two years- its not a bad series, and i dont judge anyone for liking it, but once the hyperfixation fazed out and the rose tinted glasses fell i started to realize how bad the writing was. (in my opinion-)

idk if this was really all that weird but idk. my “weirdest” hyper fixation that i had was my chemical romance to me at the time it wasn’t weird that i could write a 4 page paper on them just from memory (which i did for music class). And getting old magazines off if ebay just so i could read their article in it or buying most of their funkos and having all of the umbrella academy comic books that they had at my local comic book store and spending so much money on their merch lol. But they were/are my heros and got me through some hard times so whose to say if it was really a problem or not yk.

I wouldn't call the pieces of media i consumed in the past weird, but i'd say one thats still current to this day even, is counting money. I have sat for hours on end counting coins, figuring out the best systems to count coins, giving back change, and all that. Manually, if i should be more specific. I have never been off on the amount I count when the coins are ran through machines made to count coins, and it's mostly weird because of the technology people have now that can count coins and stuff in like, less than 5 minutes. But I love it, its mesmerising, i get to keep track of it all, and of course, who doesn't like large sums of money? lol

edit: I forgot about it but also just emergency/government workers in general, and by that i mean things like the police, EMS, firefighters, DOT, sherrifs, etc. I can never explain it it's just so cool to me for no reason and it will always push me to happy stim sometimes eheheee, like, the sirens of the vehicles (sensory issues say I like a lot of noises/lights), and just, everything, yknow?
