:gets out ruler: my usual kandi needle is a metal yarn needle thats about 2mm wide, it fits the 1mm string i use just fine and fits through most beads I use on the regular. wider needles just dont go through the beads as easily in my experience, and ive literally broken metal needles while doing kandi so idk how sturdy plastic would be if youre aggressively pulling things tight like me (lol)

While metal isn't really recommended. it's what we use, we have a sewing one with a decent sized eye, and if you have struggles with getting the string in, if you have a threader, that makes things easier -Karl

i may be incorrect but could metal needles scratch/damage beads? that's the only reason i can think of for metal needles being bad besides maybe the string not fitting
