(possible tw) stimming

a few questions for everyone out there whos nd (or not!) that stims 4.gif

1. What's your favorite (way to) stim?

2. Do you use things to stim? (toys, squishies, fidgets, etc)

3. Does stimming help with tics, if you have them? (I do and sometimes stimming helps, because I try to avoid doing it in front of my dad n while its so hard to contain, sometimes stimming helps n its like a release)

4. Do you believe stimming should be valid for everyone to use? (I feel like a lot of people would say yes, but I know some people may say its something that should be kept for the nd community)

1. biting the joints of my hands

2. I don't have like stim toys but I'll fidget with anything within reach

3. for me stimming doesn't help at all and sometimes makes them worse

4. yes, everyone should be able to use it. Its done to help cope and process emotions and stimuli and that doesn't just apply to nd people, if it helps you then there is no problem with it.

1. i really like blepping. when i have on a mask people dont even notice lol. other than that, repeating words i hear

2. yeah when i knock or hit my wrists together i use a plushy so that it doesn't hurt. it also gives me sensory relief

3. yes it does. when i do tic (every couple of minutes) people just think im stimming so thats cool bc i know a lot of people in our school dont know what tics are

4. yes i believe everyone shoud be valid for stimming whether theyre in the neurodivergent community or not. shouldnt be gatekeeped for having a natural reaction

1. When I happy stim, I shake my fists (kind of like I’m holding maracas) and jump up and down. If I’m REALLY excited, I squeak and spin in a circle. For stressed stims, I mostly just shut down completely so I don’t have the energy for stimming.

2. Sometimes! I have a tangle and chewlerey that I use pretty often.

3. I only tic when I really really stressed, and like I said, stress stims don’t really happen for me

4. I think everyone should be able to stim freely, but I don’t want it to become one of those things that are ignored about neurodivergency because it’s common

i like to stim when i have an overwhelming emotion like happiness or sadness =) when im really happy i ball my hands up and wave them back in forth in front of my chest =D when im angry i bounce my foot (not to be mistaken for bouncing on my toe because i do that when im focused) i sadly cant use any toys or anything because i would lose it easily lol

  1. shaking my hands, bouncing my leg, and rocking back and forth (these are some that almost if not all of us do)
  2. no not really
  3. yeah it does we don't tic that often but when we do it's pretty helpful to stim
  4. yeah i think everyone should be allowed to stim!! i think if more people do it it will become more accepted!
