tw: slight mentions of sh and ed

is anyone else concerned about the amount of posts they're seeing about sh, ed, and just dark/possibly triggering things? like i feel like this website is fine with school or friend advice, but for heavy topics it isn't the most appropriate place. i feel those topics should be talked to in places/with people more equipped for that, rather than a website filled with a lot of young, impressional kids. obviously it's great when people can find people who they can relate to, but i'm worried someone may say the wrong thing or get the wrong ideas. it could be way too easy for someone to be influenced in the wrong way, or bad/misinformation to spread.

is this just me or does anyone else feel the same way?

Okay, I think it’s unanimous enough now that we will have to remove certain topics (like self harm, ED, r*pe, gore). I might need to set up thread reporting in order to manage it effectively. I will also need to add a notice on the new thread page informing people. I’ll work on this when I get a chance (probably this weekend).

@ponybead_crayon: No, you can totally talk about it! They just mean things like eating disorders and sh. Talking about DID is totally fine!!

so does this mean I can't talk about DID? I'll delete all my threads if that's the case. I wanna keep everyone happy

@Crumpet: you should probably :/

(personal experience) i sometimes forget or ignore my trigger for gore and look at it anway and then get panic attacks and disturbing images in my head

also the words TW:gore stil make me extremely scared and get images of gore in my head

this could happen to someone else so you probably should

i just commented this on a venting post i feel it should be put here too, even though it mostly repeats everything that's already been said.

(not directed at anyone specifically, just the website/recent posts in general)

tw: slight mention of ed and sh

i'm honestly really concerned and frankly tired of all the sh/ed posts i've been seeing lately. if someone is coming to this website for advice, it should be something more light like friends or school, not heavy topics. this is not the appropriate place for it, nor does it have the appropriate people to help. most of the active users (that i've seen at least) are young. many of them being younger than myself. it's too easy to share or be given the wrong information whether it was intentional or not. you have no idea who is on the other side of that screen and they may or may not have the best intentions for you in mind. even if a post or comment you make never tells anyone to do something, kids are young and impressionable. it's too easy for someone to try something harmful because they think it's "cool" or anything like that.

this website is supposed to be fun and lighthearted. myself and so many others want to have a good time without worries of the real world. especially now i have so many worried in my real life, and i don't want to be brought down online too. in the past i never came across these kinds of posts so they were easy for me to ignore. but a lot of days now half of the active threads have some kind of tw in the title. even if the post doesn't give anyone ideas or something like i mentioned in the first paragraph is still weighs me down. it is not my job or anyone else's website to help you, or to be more blunt even listen to you. we are not therapists. i understand it's nice to vent but there are so many other resources online if you are unable to do so irl. myself and others cannot go about our days offering inaccurate advice and worrying "are they safe" and similar thoughts.

@inxxiety: yeah thats whats so worrying about it. it's important to emphasize that those behaviors are not healthy and dangerous, but if they see so many other people doing it they might just ignore that

I AGREE. i know its good to vent and all but since i see stuff abt s/h everywhere now i am also starting to see younger kids think mental illness and s/h are "asthetics" or "cool"
