Which patterns in the "make a pattern"?

I am new to making my own patterns (and kind of new to making pattern in general). I am trying to make a couple of patterns but I am confused as to which patterns are used for what. They have the ones that have "stitch" and then square and circle ones etc. Can someone please explain what each one is used for?

Circles and squares are the easiest to use for fuse beads, especially as a beginner. But you can use anything including just a normal picture after getting the hang of it
