ok guys, so there's this video on youtube that has caused some controversy with ravers & also non ravers like myself. link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hkl4vwEes3o in case you've never seen it before, this girl thinks that kandi only comes from raves & shouldn't be sold in Hot Topic. i agree that you should make it instead of buying it, cuz its not spreading the PLUR vibe, but don't go make an ass out of yourself & start cussing out the manager. she also brings up this other topic: if you wear kandi & don't go to raves, then its not considered kandi, just bracelets made out of pony beads. so does that mean that I'm not a real kandi kid just because i don't rave but i want to spread PLUR? or that someone else isn't a real KK either? i even messaged a raver on here (name is Ginger Cand-E) asking if it was ok for me to be included in the kandi community even though i don't go to raves & she said that it was ok. the reason why i don't go to raves is because i can't find any, so calm down. what are your opinions?

Oh I've seen this video before. Well this video is old. And the rave culture has changed since then. This video must took place when there was still the rule of "you have to go to a rave before you can make kandi." or some other type of rule too. But today some rules of kandi have been dropped. Most likely dropped I should say. And that is one of those rules that has been dropped today. Kandi kids and Kandi ravers agree you don't have to go to a rave first before you make kandi. So I don't think you have to worry. Whether you go by P.L.U.M. P.L.U.R. or P.L.U.R.(R). it doesn't matter. As long as you're spreading the beats or vibes who cares if you didn't go to a rave yet. A lot of us on here haven't been to a rave. Keep in mind the video was years ago. so it was probably different at that time in the rave culture. Hello Kitty Bear

kandi has long been a "kiddie craft" in my mind i work for walmart and we sell the supplies in the childrens crafting aisles short of fishing line. Saying you're not a kandi kid because well you don't rave would be foolish; kind of the same thing to where if you went out wearing something and got harassed because well you didn't get it at a rave. By all means peace love unity respect is a good thing we all should live by however people need to learn and realize that some area's are not possible for raves, people are to young, or that people like myself who if they had a rave to attend might not want to attend it because they have no one who wants to attend it with them and i'm located in a rather pompus area meaning i'd most likely need to travel to a questionable area i don't know

Being a raver and a Kandi Kid are absolutely not one and the same. They often go hand in hand, but there are Kandi Kids who don't rave, just as there are plenty of ravers who are not Kandi Kids. Worry not, if you like to make Kandi and spread PLUR then you are a Kandi Kid. happy

IMO whether you're a raver or not, there's nothing wrong with wearing kandi and spreading the PLUR vibes

"Crumpet": Keep in mind that this video was posted in 2009. The kandi community has changed a lot since then. Back then I would say it was still mostly ravers making kandi, but now there are a lot more non ravers who make it. The idea that a kandi kid doesn't have to rave is much more normal and accepted now, though there are still people who disagree with it. i can see that. they've been raving for a while now & think that only ravers should wear kandi, since it is a friendship bracelet, but most ravers are open to new kandi kids & I'm cool with that.
