How should I go about putting this on a necklace?

I have this sketchers sneaker toy (pictured below) that I really want to make into a necklace but it has this thin layer of plastic where I want to put the string through. What do yall recommend I do to get string through the plastic, just stab it with a needle?

Tiny drills are good for this and easier (and safer) than heating needles

maybe if you have a drill you could use that, you'd just need to have a small bit for the drill to make the hole.

yes- stabbing it with a needle is what i was thinking, if you use a sewing needle though, and the hole isnt big enough, maybe you could use one of those thicker plastic kandi needles to enlarge the hole made with the sewing needle! dance
