@BLOODSTAINEDGEM: Slitting sweater sleeves horizontally so they hang down is pretty keen, and adding ginormous pins works well with it.

Drippy blood collar using clear string. (Possibly the only time I will say use clear string.)

i know a lot of people cut up shirts but ideas with the scraps could be making collars/arm warmers/gloves/hair accessories so you can have cool clothes and little extra pieces for your outfit toohappyhappyhappy

Crochet spiderweb/fishnet pattern stuff or even crocheted arm/leg warmers, and fabric paint to liven up plain t-shirts rainbowsmile

most grunge/metalgoth/vampire/whatfucking ever fashion is made using regular clothes upcycled, if you have abunch of boring black shirts maybe try looking up some patterns and shit to cut into them. i usually incorperate things like diaper pins in not to close the holes but add a extra flare to it. if you odnt have much money or you have no blank shirts then go to a local thrift store that isnt goodwill if you can (price spikes, they dont care about the poor is basically a reseller nota good place for saving) heres some personal recommendations
